What does the Bible say about Muhammad? by Sheikh Ahmed Deedat

Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,

The subject of this evening’s talk – “What the Bible says about Muhammad” will no doubt come as a surprise to many of you because the speaker is a Muslim. How does it come about that a Muslim happens to be expounding prophecies from the Jewish and Christian Scriptures?

As a young man, about 30 years ago, I attended a series of religious lectures by a Christian theologian, a certain Rev. Hiten, at the “Theater Royal”, Durban in South Africa.

Pope or Kissinger?

This Reverend gentleman was expounding Biblical prophecies. He went on to prove that the Christian Bible foretold the rise of Soviet Russia, and the Last Days. At one stage he went to the extent of proving that his Holy Book did not leave even the Pope out of its predictions. He expatiated vigorously in order to convince his audience that the Beast 666 mentioned in The Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, was the Pope, who was the Vicar of Christ on earth.

Christian scholars are ingenious and indefatigable in their efforts to prove their case. Rev. Hiten’s lectures led me to ask that if the Bible foretold so many things – not even excluding the “Pope” and “Israel”, – then surely it must have something to say about the greatest benefactor of mankind, prophet Muhammad, may the peace of Allah be upon him.

As a youngster I set out to search for an answer. I met priest after priest, attended lectures, and read everything that I could lay my hands relating to the fields of Bible prophecies. Tonight I’m going to narrate to you one of these interviews with a Dominee of the Dutch Reformed Church.

Lucky Thirteen

I was invited to the Transvaal (South Africa) to deliver a talk on the occasion of the birthday of the prophet Muhammad. Knowing that in that province of the Republic, the Afrikaans language is widely spoken, even by my own people, I felt that I ought to acquire a smattering of this language so as to feel a little “at home” with the people. I opened the telephone directory and began phoning the Afrikaans-speaking Churches. I indicated my purpose to the priests that I was interested in having a dialogue with them, but they all refused my request with “plausible” excuses.

No. 13 was my lucky number. The thirteenth call brought me pleasure and relief. A Dominee Van Heerden (“Dominee” is the Afrikaans equivalent of “priest”) agreed to meet me at his home on the Saturday afternoon that I was to leave for Transvaal.

He received me on his verandah with a friendly welcome. He said if I did not mind, he would like his father-in- law from the Free State, a 70 year old man, to join us in the discussion. I did not mind. The three of us settled down in the Dominee’s library.

Why Nothing?

I posed the question: “What does the Bible say about Muhammad?” Without hesitation he answered: “Nothing!” I asked: “Why nothing? According to your interpretation the Bible has so many things to say about the rise of Soviet Russia and about the Last Days and even about the Pope of the Roman Catholics?” He said: “Yes, but there was nothing about Muhammad!” I asked again: “Why nothing? Surely this man Muhammad who had been responsible for the bringing into being a world-wide community of millions of believers who, on his authority, believe in:

the miraculous birth of Jesus,

that Jesus is the Messiah,

that he gave life to the dead by God’s permission, and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by God’s permission.

Surely this book (the Bible) must have something to say about this great leader of men who spoke so well of Jesus and his mother Mary?”

The old man from the Free State replied: “My son, I have been reading the Bible for the past 50 years, and if there was any mention of him, I would have known it.”

Not One by Name!

I inquired: “According to you, are there not hundreds of prophecies regarding the coming of Jesus in the Old Testament.” The Dominee interjected: “Not hundreds, but thousands!” I said: “I am not going to dispute the thousand and one prophecies in the Old Testament regarding the coming of Jesus Christ, because the whole Muslim world has already accepted him without the testimony of any Biblical prophecy. Muslims have accepted the de facto Jesus on the authority of Muhammad alone, and there are in the world today no less than 900,000,000 followers of Muhammad, who love, respect, and revere Jesus Christ as a great Messenger of God without having the Christians to convince them by means of Biblical dialectics.

Out of the ‘thousands’ of prophecies referred to, can you please give me just one single prophecy where Jesus is mentioned by name? The term Messiah, translated as Christ, is not a name but a title. Is there a single prophecy where it says that the name of the Messiah will be Jesus, and that his mother’s name will be Mary, that his supposed father will be Joseph the Carpenter; that he will be born in the reign of Herod the King, etc? No! There are no such details! Then how can you conclude that those ‘Thousand’ prophecies refer to Jesus, peace be upon him?”

What is Prophecy?

The Dominee replies: “You see, prophecies are word pictures of something that is going to happen in the future. When that thing actually comes to pass, we see vividly in these prophecies the fulfillment of what had been predicted in the past.” I said: “What you actually do is that you deduce, you reason, you put two and two together.” He said: “Yes.” I said: “If this is what you have to do with a ‘thousand’ prophecies to justify your claim with regards to the genuineness of Jesus, why should we not adopt the very same system for Muhammad?” The Dominee agreed that it was a fair proposition, a reasonable way of dealing with the problem.

I asked him to open up Deuteronomy, chapter 18, verse 18, which he did. I read from memory the verse in Afrikaans, because this was my purpose in having a little practice with the language of the ruling race in South Africa.

“N Profeet sal ek vir hulle verwek uit die midde van hulle broers, soos jy is, en ek sal my woorde in sy mond le, en hy sy sal aan hulle se alle wat ekhom beveel.” (Deut 18:18)

The English translation reads as follows:

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” (Deut 18:18)

Prophet Like Moses

Having recited the verse in Afrikaans, I apologized for my uncertain pronunciation; the Dominee assured me that I was doing fine. I inquired: “To whom does this prophecy refer?” Without the slightest hesitation he answered: “Jesus!” I asked: “Why Jesus? his name is not mentioned here” The Dominee replied: “Since prophecies are word pictures of something that is going to happen in the future, we find that the wordings of this verse adequately describe him. You see, the most important words of this prophecy are ‘soos jy is’, ‘like unto thee’, or ‘like you’ – like Moses; and Jesus is like Moses.”

I asked the Dominee: “In which way is Jesus like Moses?” The answer was: “In the first place Moses was a Jew and Jesus was also a Jew; secondly, Moses was a Prophet and Jesus was also a Prophet – therefor Jesus is like Moses and that is exactly what God had foretold Moses – ‘soos jy is’.”

“Can you think of any other similarities between Moses and Jesus?” I asked. The Dominee said that he could not think of any. I replied: “If these are the only two criteria for discovering a candidate for this prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:18, then in that case the criteria could fit any one of the following Biblical personages after Moses:- Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist etc., because they were also all Jews as well as Prophets. Why should we not apply this prophecy to any one of these prophets, and why only to Jesus?” The Dominee had no reply. I continued: “You see, my conclusions are that Jesus is most unlike Moses, and if I am wrong I would like you to correct me.”

Three Unlike

So staying, I reasoned with him: “In the first place Jesus is not like Moses, because, according to you, Jesus is God, but Moses is not God, is this true?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses!”. “Secondly, according to you, Jesus died for the sins of the world, but Moses did not have to die for the sins of the world. Is this true?” He again said: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses!”. “Thirdly, according to you, Jesus went to Hell for three days, but Moses did not have to go there. Is this true?” He answered meekly: “Y-e-s!” I concluded: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses!”. “But Dominee,..” I continued: “..these are not hard, solid facts, they are mere matters of belief over which the little ones can stumble and fall. Let us discuss something very simple, very easy that if the little ones are called in to hear the discussion, would have no difficulty following it, shall we?” The Dominee was quiet happy at the suggestion.

Father and Mother

“Moses had a father and a mother. Muhammad also had a father and a mother. But Jesus had only a mother, and no human father. Is this true?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “Daarom is Jesus nie soos Moses nie, maar Muhammad is soos Moses!” Meaning: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses, but Muhammad is like Moses!” (By now the reader will realize that I was using the Afrikaans language only for practice purposes. I shall discontinue its use in this narration).

Miraculous Birth

“Moses and Muhammad were born in the normal, natural course, i.e. the physical association of man and woman; but Jesus was created by a special miracle. You will recall that we are told in the Gospel of St. Matthew 1:18 “..before they came together, (Joseph the Carpenter and Mary) she was found with child by the Holy Ghost.” And St. Luke tells us that when the good news of the birth of a holy son was announced to her, Mary reasoned: “How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee”(Luke 1:35).

The Holy Quran confirms the miraculous birth of Jesus, in nobler and sublimer terms. In answer to her logical question:

‘O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?’ The angel says in reply: ‘Even so, Allah createth what He willeth: when He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it ‘Be’, and it is’ (the Holy Quran, 3:47).

It is not necessary for God to plant a seed in man or animal. He merely wills it and it comes into being. This is the Muslim conception of the of birth of Jesus. (When I compared the Quran and the Biblical versions of the birth of Jesus to the head of the Bible Society in our largest city, and when I inquired: “Which version would you prefer to give your daughter, the Quranic version or the Biblical version?” The man bowed his head and answered: “The Quranic.”)(see Christ in Islam for the author).

In short, I said to the Dominee: “Is it true that Jesus was born miraculously as against the natural birth of Moses and Muhammad?” He replied proudly: “Yes!” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses, but Muhammad is like Moses. And God says to Moses in the Book of Deuteronomy 18:18 ‘Like unto thee’, ‘Like You’, like Moses and Muhammad is like Moses.”

Marriage Ties

“Moses and Muhammad married and had children, but Jesus remained a bachelor all his life. Is this true?” The Dominee said: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses, but Muhammad is like Moses.”

Jesus Rejected by his People

“Moses and Muhammad were accepted as prophets by their people in their very lifetime. No doubt the Jews gave endless trouble to Moses and they murmured in the wilderness, but as a nation, they acknowledged that Moses was a Messenger of God sent to them. The Arabs too made Muhammad’s life impossible. He suffered very badly at their hands. After 13 years of preaching in Mecca, he had to emigrate from the city of his birth. But before his demise, the Arab nation as a whole accepted him as the Messenger of Allah. But according to the Bible, “He (Jesus) Came unto his own, but his own revived him not”(John 1:11). And even today, after two thousand years, his people, the Jews, as a whole, have rejected him. Is this true?” The Dominee said: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses, but Muhammad is like Moses.”

“Other Worldly” Kingdom

“Moses and Muhammad were prophets as well as kings. A prophet means a man who receives Divine Revelation for the Guidance of man and this Guidance he conveys to God’s creatures as received without any addition or deletion. A king is a person who has the power of life and death over his people. It is immaterial whether the person wears a crown or not, or whether he was ever addressed as king or monarch: if the man has the prerogative of inflicting capital punishment, he is a king. Moses possessed such a power. Do you remember the Israelite who was found picking up firewood on Sabbath Day, and Moses had him stoned to death? (Numbers 15:13). There are other crimes also mentioned in the Bible for which capital punishment was inflicted on the Jews at the behest of Moses. Muhammad too, had the power of life and death over his people. There are instances in the Bible of persons who were given gift of prophecy only, but they were not in a position to implement their directives. Some of these holy men of God who were helpless in the face of stubborn rejection of their message, were the prophets Lot, Jonah, Daniel, Ezra, and John the Baptist. They could only deliver the message, but could not enforce the Law. Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, also belonged to this category.

The Christian Gospel clearly confirms this. When Jesus was dragged before the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, charged for sedition, Jesus made a convincing point in his defense to refute the false charge: Jesus answered: “My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now is my Kingdom not from hence”(John 18:36).

This convinced Pilate (a pagan) that though Jesus might not be in full possession of his mental faculty, he did not strike him as being a danger to his rule. Jesus claimed a spiritual Kingdom only; in other words he only claimed to be a prophet. Is this true?” The Dominee answered: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses but Muhammad is like Moses.”

No New Laws

“Moses and Muhammad brought new laws and new regulations for their people. Moses not only gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites, but a very comprehensive ceremonial law for the guidance of his people. Muhammad comes to a people steeped in ignorance. They married their step-mothers and buried their daughters alive; drunkenness, idolatry, and gambling were the order of the day. There was hardly anything to distinguish between the ‘man’ and the ‘animal’ of the time. From this abject ignorance, Muhammad elevated the Arabs, in the words of Thomas Carlysle, ‘Into torch-bearers of light and learning. To the Arab nation it was as a birth from darkness into light. Arabia first became alive by means of it. A poor shepherd people, roaming unnoticed in its deserts since the creation of the world. See, the unnoticed becomes world notable, the small has grown world-great. Within one century afterwards Arabia was at Granada on one hand and at Delhi on the other. Glancing in valor and splendor, and the light of Genius, Arabia shines over section of the world..’. The fact is that Muhammad gave his people a Law and Order they never had before. As regards Jesus, when the Jews felt suspicious of him that he might be an impostor with designs to pervert their teachings. Jesus took pains to assure them that he had not come with a new religion – no new laws and no new regulations. I quote his own words: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law of the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot of one title shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.’(Mathew 5:17-18).

In other words he had not come with any new laws or regulation he came only to fulfill the old law. This what he gave the Jews to understand unless he was speaking with the tongue in his cheek trying to bluff the Jews into accepting him as a man of God and by subterfuge trying to ram a new religion down their throats. No! This Messenger of God would never resort to such foul means to subvert the Religion of God. He himself fulfilled the laws. He observed the commandments of Moses, and he respected the Sabbath. At no time did a single Jew point a finger at him to say: ‘”Why don’t you fast’ or ‘why don’t you wash your hands before you break bread’, which charges they always levied against his disciples, but never against Jesus. This is because as a good Jew he honored the laws of the prophets who preceded him. In short, he had created no new religion and had brought no new law like Moses and Muhammad.”

“Isn’t this true?” I asked the Dominee, and he answered: “Yes.” I said: “Therefore, Jesus is not like Moses but Muhammad is like Moses.”

How they Departed

“Both Moses and Muhammad died natural deaths, but according to Christianity, Jesus was killed on the cross. Is this true?” The Dominee said: “Yes.” I averred: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses but Muhammad is like Moses.”

Heavenly Abode

“Moses and Muhammad both lie buried in earth, but according to you, Jesus is in heaven. Is this true? The Dominee agreed. I said: “Therefore Jesus is not like Moses but Muhammad is like Moses.”

Ishmael the First Born

Since the Dominee was helplessly agreeing with every point, I said: “Dominee, so far what I have done is to prove only one point out of the whole prophecy – that is proving the phrase ‘Like unto thee’ – ‘Like You’, like Moses’. The Prophecy is much more than this single phrase which reads as follows:

‘I will raise them up a prophet from among their bretheren like unto thee..’

The emphasis is on the words “From among their brethren.” Moses and his people, the Jews, are here addressed as a racial entity, as a whole, and as such their brethren would undoubtedly be the Arabs.

Abraham had two wives, Sarah and Hagar. Hagar bore Abraham a son, his first born, ‘..and Abraham called his son’s name, which Hagar bare Ishmael.’ (Genesis 16:15). ‘And Abraham took Ishmael his son..’ (Genesis 17:23). ‘And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.’ (Genesis 17:25).

Up to the age of thirteen Ishmael was the only son of Abraham, then God grants him another son through Sarah, named Isaac, who was very much the junior to his brother Ishmael.

Arabs and Jews

If Ishmael and Isaac are the sons of the same father Abraham, then they are brothers. And so the children of the one are the bretheren of the children of the other. The children of Isaac are the Jews and the children of Ishmael are the Arabs – so they are bretheren to one another. The Bible affirms: ‘And he (Ishmael) shall dwell in the presence of all his bretheren.’ (Genesis 16:12). ‘And he (Ishmael) died in the presence of all his bretheren.” (Genesis 25:18). The children of Isaac are the brethren of the Ishmaelites. In like manner Muhammad is from among the brethren of the Israelites because he was a descendant of Ishmael the son of Abraham. This exactly as the prophecy has it – “From among their bretheren” (Deut.18:18).

There the prophecy distinctly mentions that the coming prophet who would be like Moses, must arise not from the Children of Israel nor from among themselves, but from among their brethren. Muhammad therefore was among their bretheren!

Words in the Mouth

The prophecy proceeds further: ‘..And I will put my words into his mouth..’ What does it mean when it is said ‘I will put my words in your mouth’? You see, when I asked you (the Dominee) to open Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18, at the beginning, and if I had asked you to read, and if you had read, would I be putting my words into your mouth? The Dominee answered: “No.” But, I continued: “If I were to teach you a language like Arabic, about which you have no knowledge, and if I asked you to read or repeat after me what I utter i.e. “Say: ‘He is Allah the One and Only; Allah, the eternal absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him.’ (the Holy Quran 112:1-4) (I read them in Arabic). Would I not be putting these unheard words of a foreign tongue which you utter, into your mouth?” The Dominee agreed that it was indeed so. “In an identical manner”, I said: “The words of the Holy Quran, the Revelation vouchsafed by the Almighty God to Muhammad, were revealed.

History tells us that when Muhammad was forty years of age he was in a cave some three miles north of the City of Mecca. In the cave the Archangel Gabriel commands him in his mother tongue: ‘Eqra!’, which means ‘Read!’, or ‘Recite!’ Muhammad was terrified, and in his bewilderment replied that he was not learned!. The angel commands him a second time with the same result. For the third time the angel continues. Now Muhammad, grasps that what was required of him was to repeat! to rehearse! And he repeats the words as they were put into his mouth:

‘Read! In the Name of the Lord and Charisher, Who Created. Created man from a (mere) clot of congealed blood: Read! and thy Lord is the Most Bountiful, He Who taught (the use of) the pen, taught man that which he new not”. (the Holy Quran 96:1-5).

These are the first five verses which were revealed to Muhammad, which now occupy the beginning of the 96th chapter of the Holy Quran.

The Faithful Witness

When the angel departed, Muhammad rushed to his home. Terrified and sweating all over he asked his wife Khadija to ‘cover-him up!’ He lay down, and she watched by him. When he had regained his composure, he explained to her what he had seen and heard. She assured him of her faith in him and that Allah would not allow any terrible thing to happen to him. Are these the confessions of an impostor? Would impostors confess that when an angel of the Lord confronts them with a Message from on High, they get fear-stricken, terrified, and sweating all over, run home to their wives? Any critic can see that his reactions and confessions are that of an honest, sincere man.

During the next twenty three years of his life, words were ‘put into his mouth’, and he uttered them. They made an indelible impression on his heart and mind; and as the volume of the Sacred Scripture, the Holy Quran, grew, they were recorded on palm-leaf libre, on skins; and in the hearts of his devoted disciples. Before his demise these words were arranged according to his instructions in the order in which we find them today in the Holy Quran.

The words (revelation) were actually put into his mouth, exactly as foretold in the prophecy under discussion: “And I will put my words in his mouth.” (Deut 18:18).

Unlettered Prophet

Muhammad’s experience in the Cave of Hira, and his response to that first Revelation is the exact fulfillment of another Biblical Prophecy. In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 29, verse 12, we read: ‘And the Book is delivered to him that is not learned’ (Isaiah 29:12). ‘The Unlettered prophet’ (the Holy Quran 7:158). And the Biblical verse continues: ‘Saying, read this, I pray thee:’ ‘And he saith, I am not learned.’. ‘I am not learned.’ is the exact translation of the Arabic words which Muhammad uttered twice to the Holy Spirit, the Archangel Gabriel, when he was commanded: ‘Read!’).

Let me quote the verse in full without a break as found in the King James Version, or the Authorized Version as it is more popularly know: ‘And the Book is delivered to him that is no learned, saying: ‘Read this I pray thee’. And he saith: ‘I am not learned.’ (Isaiah 29:12).

Important note : It may be noted that there were no Arabic Bibles in existence in the 6th century of the Christian Era when Muhammad lived and preached. Besides, he was absolutely unlettered and unlearned. He never knew how to read and write Arabic, his own language, let alone knowing a completely different one.

‘He does not speak (aught) of (his own) desire: It is no less than inspiration sent down to him. He was taught by One Mighty in Power’ (the Holy Quran 53:3-5).

Without any human learning, ‘he put to shame the wisdom of the learned’.

Grave Warning

“See!” I told the Dominee, “how the prophecies fit Muhammad like a glove. We do not have to stretch prophecies to justify their fulfillment in Muhammad.” The Dominee replied, “All your expositions sound very well, but they are of no real consequence, because we Christians have Jesus Christ the incarnate God, who has redeemed us from the Bondage of Sin!” I asked: “Not important? God didn’t think so! He had His warnings recorded in the scriptures. God knew that there would be people like you who will light-heartedly discount His words, so He followed up Deuteronomy 18:18 with a dare warning:

‘And it shall come to pass (it is going to happen), that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which he shall speak in My Name, I will require if of him.’

(In the Catholic Bible the ending words are ‘I will be the revenger’, ‘I will take revenge!’). “Does not this terrify you? God Almighty is threatening revenge! We shake in our pants if some hoodlum threatens us, yet you have no fear of God’s warning?”

Miracle of Miracles! in the verse 19 of Deuteronomy chapter 18, we have a further fulfillment of the prophecy in Muhammad! Note the words ‘..My words which he shall speak in My Name’. In whose name is Muhammad speaking?” I opened Yusuf Ali’s translation of the Holy Quran, at chapter 114, Surat An-Nas, or The Chapter of Mankind, the last chapter of the Quran, and showed him the formula at the head of the chapter, and the meaning:

‘In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful’.

And the heading of chapter 113, and the meaning: ‘In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful’. And every chapter downwards 112, 111, 110,..was the same formula and the same meaning on every page, because the end surahs (chapters) are short and take about a page each. And what did the prophecy demand? ‘..Which he shall speak in My Name’; and in whose name does Muhammad speak? In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

The Prophecy is being fulfilled in Muhammad to the letter; every chapter of the Holy Quran except the 9th begin with the formula: ‘In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful’. The Muslim begins his every lawful act with the Holy formula. But the Christian begins: ‘In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.’

Concerning Deuteronomy chapter eighteen, I have given you more than 15 reasons as to how this prophecy refers to Muhammad and not to Jesus.

Baptist Contradicts Jesus

In New Testament times, we find that the Jews were still expecting the fulfillment of the prophecy of One like Moses, refer John 1:19-25.

When Jesus claimed to be the Messiah of the Jews, the Jews began to esquire as to where was Elias? The Jews had a parallel prophecy that before the coming of the Messiah, Elias must come first in his second coming. Jesus confirms this Jewish belief:

“Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, that Elias is come already, and they knew him not,.. then the Disciples understood that he spoke unto them of John the Baptist.” (Mathew 17:11-13).

According to the New Testament the Jews were not the ones to swallow the words of any would-be Messiah. In their investigations they underwent intense difficulties in order to find their true Messiah. And this the Gospel of John confirms: “And this is the record of John (the Baptist), when the Jews sent priests and levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ‘Who art thou?’, and he confessed and denied not; but confessed, ‘I am not the Christ’ ” (This was only natural because there can’t be two Messiahs at the same time. If Jesus was the Christ then John couldn’t be the Christ!) “And they asked him: ‘What then? Art thou Elias?’ And he saith: ‘I am not’ ” Here John the Baptist contradicts Jesus! Jesus says that John is Elias and John denies that he is what Jesus ascribes him to be. One of the two (Jesus or John), God forbid!, is definitely not speaking the truth!

On the testimony of Jesus himself, John the Baptist was the greatest of the Israelite prophets: “Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women, there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist” (Matthew 11:11).

We Muslims know John the Baptist as Yahya. We revere him as a true prophet of Allah. The Holy Prophet Jesus known to us as Eesa, is also esteemed as one of the mightiest messenger of the Almighty. How can we Muslims impute lies to either of them? We leave this problem between Jesus and John for the Christians to solve, for their “Sacred Scriptures abound in discrepancies which they have been glossing over as the ‘dark sayings of Jesus’ ” (See the Times Magazine December 30th, 1974, article How true is the Bible?).

We Muslims are really interested in the last questions posed to John the Baptist by the Jewish elite – Art thou that prophet? And he answered, “No.”(John 1:21).

Three Questions!

Please note that three different and distinct questions were posed to John the Baptist, and to which he gave three emphatic No’s as answers. To recapitulate:

“Art thou the Christ?”

“Art thou Elias ?”

“Art thou that Prophet?”

But the learned men of Christendom somehow only see two questions implied here. To make doubly clear that the Jews definitely had three separate prophecies in their minds when they were interrogating John the Baptist. Let us read the remonstrance of the Jews in the verses following:

“And they asked him, and said unto him: ‘Why baptizest thou then, if

thou be not that Christ..

nor Elias..

neither that Prophet ?’ ”

(John 1:25).

The Jews were waiting for the fulfillment of three distinct prophecies: a. the coming of Christ. b. the coming of Elias, and c. the coming of that Prophet.

“That Prophet”

If we look up any Bible which has a concordance or cross-references, then we will find in the marginal note where the words the Prophet, or that Prophet occur in John 1:25, that these words refer to the prophecy of Deuteronomy 18:15 and 18. And that that Prophet – the Prophet like Moses – “Like unto thee”, we have proved through overwhelming evidence that he was Muhammad and not Jesus!

Muslims are not denying that Jesus was the Messiah, which word is translated as Christ. We are not contesting the Thousand and One Prophecies which the Christians claim abound in the Old Testament foretelling the coming of the Messiah. What we say is that Deuteronomy 18:18 does not refer to Jesus Christ but it is an explicit prophecy about the prophet Muhammad!.”

The Dominee, very politely parted with me by saying that it was a very interesting discussion and he would like me very much to come one day and address his congregation on the subject. A decade and half has passed since then but I am still awaiting that privilege.

I believe the Dominee was sincere when he made the offer, but prejudices die hard, and who would like to loose his sheep?

The Acid Test

To the Lambs of Christ I say, why not apply that acid test which the Master himself wanted you to apply to any would be claimant to prophethood? He had said:

“By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes from the thorns, of figs from the thistles? Every good tree will bear good fruit and every evil tree will bear evil fruit… By their fruits ye shall know them”. (Mathew 7:16-20).

Why are you afraid to apply this test to the teachings of Muhammad? You will find in the Last Testament of God, the Holy Quran, the true fulfillment of the teachings of Moses and Jesus which will bring to the world the much needed peace and happiness. George Bernard Shaw was quoted as saying:

“If a man like Muhammad were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness.”

The weekly news magazine Time dated July 15, 1974, carried a selection of opinions by various historians, writers, military men, businessmen an others on the subject: “Who were History’s Great Leaders?” Some said that it was Hitler; others said Gandhi, Buddha, Lincoln and the like. But Jules Masserman, a United States psychoanalyst, put the standards straight by giving the correct criteria wherewith to judge. He said: “Leaders must fulfill three functions:

Provide for the well-being of the led,

Provide a social organization in which people feel relatively secure, and

Provide them with one set of beliefs.”

With the above three criteria he searches history and analyses Hitler, Pasteur, Gaesar, Moses, Confucius and the lot, and ultimately concludes: “People like Pasteur and Salk are leaders in the first sense. People like Ghandi and Confucius, on one hand, and Alexander, Caesar, and Hitler on the other, are leaders in the second, and perhaps the third sense. Jesus and Buddha belong in the third category alone. Perhaps the greatest leader of all times was Muhammad, who combined all three functions. To a lesser degree, Moses did the same.”

According to the objective standards set by the professor of the Chicago University, Jesus and Buddha are nowhere in the picture of the “Great Leaders of Mankind”, but by a queer coincidence groups Moses and Muhammad together, thus adding further weight to the argument that Jesus is not like Moses, but Muhammad is like Moses. Deut 18:18 “Like unto thee”, like Moses!

In conclusion, I end with a quotation of a Christian Reverend the commentator of the Bible, followed by that of his Master:

“The ultimate criterion of a true prophet is the moral character of his teaching.” (Prof. Dummelow).

“By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Jesus Christ)

A concluding suggestion : come let us reason together!

“Say: ‘O People of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: that we worship none but Allah (God); that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, lords and patrons other than Allah (God)’. If then they turn back, say: ‘Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (Bowing to God’s Will).’ ” (the Holy Quran 3:64)

People of the Book is the respectful title given to the Jews and the Christians in the Holy Quran. The Muslims are here commanded to invite, O People of the Book!, O Learned People!, O People who claim to be the recipients of Divine Revelation, of a Holy Scripture; let us gather together onto a common platform, “that we worship none but Allah (God)”, because none but God is worthy of worship, not because “The Lord thy God is a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me.” (Exodus 20:25). But because He is our Lord and Cherisher, our Sustainer and Evolver, worthy of all praise, prayer and devotion.

In the abstract the Jews and the Christians would agree to all the three propositions contained in this Quranic verse. In practice they fail. Apart from doctrinal lapses from the unity of the One True God, Allah, may He be praised, there is the question of a consecrated Priesthood (among the Jews it was hereditary also), as if a mere human being – Cohen or Pope, or Priest, or Brahuman, – could claim superiority apart from his learning and the purity of his life, or could stand between man and God in some special sense. Islam does not recognize priesthood!.

The Creed of Islam is given to us here in a nutshell from Holy Quran:

“Say ye: ‘We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes (of the Children of Israel), And that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam).’ ” (the Holy Quran 2:136).

The Muslim position is clear. The Muslim does not claim to have a religion peculiar to himself. Islam is not a sect or an ethnic religion. In its view all religion is one, for the Truth is one:

“It was the same religion preached by all the earlier prophets.” (the Holy Quran 42:13).

It was the truth taught by all the inspired Books. In essence it amounts to a consciousness of the Will and Plan of God and a joyful submission to that Will and Plan. If anyone wants a religion other than that, he is false to his own nature, as he is false to God’s Will and Plan. Such a one cannot expect guidance, for he has deliberately renounced guidance.

Misconceptions about Islam and its clarification.

Why are most of the Muslims fundamentalists and terrorists? 


This question is often hurled at Muslims, either directly or indirectly, during any discussion on religion or world affairs. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about Islam and Muslims. In fact, such misinformation and false propaganda often leads to discrimination and acts of violence against Muslims. A case in point is the anti-Muslim campaign in the American media following the Oklahoma bomb blast, where the press was quick to declare a ‘Middle Eastern conspiracy’ behind the attack. The culprit was later identified as a soldier from the American Armed Forces. 

Let us analyze this allegation of ‘fundamentalism’ and ‘terrorism’: 

1. Definition of the word ‘fundamentalist’ 

A fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following. For a person to be a good doctor, he should know, follow, and practice the fundamentals of medicine. In other words, he should be a fundamentalist in the field of medicine. For a person to be a good mathematician, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of mathematics. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of mathematics. For a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of science. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science. 

2. Not all ‘fundamentalists’ are the same 

One cannot paint all fundamentalists with the same brush. One cannot categorize all fundamentalists as either good or bad. Such a categorization of any fundamentalist will depend upon the field or activity in which he is a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist robber or thief causes harm to society and is therefore undesirable. A fundamentalist doctor, on the other hand, benefits society and earns much respect. 

3. I am proud to be a Muslim fundamentalist 

I am a fundamentalist Muslim who, by the grace of Allah, knows, follows and strives to practice the fundamentals of Islam. A true Muslim does not shy away from being a fundamentalist. I am proud to be a fundamentalist Muslim because; I know that the fundamentals of Islam are beneficial to humanity and the whole world. There is not a single fundamental of Islam that causes harm or is against the interests of the human race as a whole. Many people harbour misconceptions about Islam and consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair or improper. This is due to insufficient and incorrect knowledge of Islam. If one critically analyzes the teachings of Islam with an open mind, one cannot escape the fact that Islam is full of benefits both at the individual and collective levels. 

4. Dictionary meaning of the word ‘fundamentalist’ 

According to Webster’s dictionary ‘fundamentalism’ was a movement in American Protestantism that arose in the earlier part of the 20th century. It was a reaction to modernism, and stressed the infallibility of the Bible, not only in matters of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record. It stressed on belief in the Bible as the literal word of God. Thus fundamentalism was a word initially used for a group of Christians who believed that the Bible was the verbatim word of God without any errors and mistakes. 

According to the Oxford dictionary ‘fundamentalism’ means ‘strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion, especially Islam’. 

Today the moment a person uses the word fundamentalist he thinks of a Muslim who is a terrorist. 

5. Every Muslim should be a terrorist 

Every Muslim should be a terrorist. A terrorist is a person who causes terror. The moment a robber sees a policeman he is terrified. A policeman is a terrorist for the robber. Similarly every Muslim should be a terrorist for the antisocial elements of society, such as thieves, dacoits and rapists. Whenever such an anti-social element sees a Muslim, he should be terrified. It is true that the word ‘terrorist’ is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true Muslim should only be a terrorist to selective people i.e. anti-social elements, and not to the common innocent people. In fact a Muslim should be a source of peace for innocent people. 

6. Different labels given to the same individual for the same action, i.e. ‘terrorist’ and ‘patriot’ 

Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of India who did not subscribe to non-violence were labeled as terrorists by the British government. The same individuals have been lauded by Indians for the same activities and hailed as ‘patriots’. Thus two different labels have been given to the same people for the same set of actions. One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists, while those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters. 

It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing. Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analyzed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly. 

7. Islam means peace

Islam is derived from the word ‘salaam’ which means peace. It is a religion of peace whose fundamentals teach its followers to maintain and promote peace throughout the world. 

Thus every Muslim should be a fundamentalist i.e. he should follow the fundamentals of the Religion of Peace: Islam. He should be a terrorist only towards the antisocial elements in order to promote peace and justice in the society.

How can Islam be called the religion of peace when it was spread by the sword?
It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.
1. Islam means peace.
Islam comes from the root word ‘salaam’, which means peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt).
2. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace.
Each and every human being in this world is not in favour of  maintaining peace and harmony. There are many, who would disrupt it for their own vested interests. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. It is precisely for this reason that we have the police who use force against criminals and antisocial elements to maintain peace in the country. Islam promotes peace. At the same time, Islam exhorts it followers to fight where there is oppression. The fight against oppression may, at times, require the use of force. In Islam force can only be used to promote peace and justice. 
3. Opinion of historian De Lacy O’Leary.
The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book “Islam at the cross road” (Page 8):
“History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myth that historians have ever repeated.”
4. Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years.
Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the adhan, that is the call for prayers.
5. 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians.
Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. Few years British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.
6. More than 80% non-Muslims in India.
The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of Indian population are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword.
7. Indonesia and Malaysia.
Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, “Which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?”
8. East Coast of Africa.
Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, “Which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa?”
9. Thomas Carlyle.
The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book “Heroes and Hero worship”, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: “The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can.”
10. No compulsion in religion.
With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse:
“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error….”  [Al-Baqarah 2:256]
11. Sword of the Intellect.
It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah Nahl, chapter 16 verse 125:
“Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious…”  [An-Nahl 16:125]
12. Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984.
An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?
13. Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe.
Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?
14. Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson.
Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, “People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (pbuh) was born”.
Doesn’t Islam promote violence, bloodshed and brutality since the Qur’an says that Muslims should kill the kuffar where ever they find them?
Answer :
A few selected verses from the Qur’an are often misquoted to perpetuate the myth that Islam promotes violence, and exhorts its followers to kill those outside the pale of Islam.
1.    Verse from Surah Taubah
The following verse from Surah Taubah is very often quoted by critics of Islam, to show that Islam promotes violence, bloodshed and brutality:
“….Kill the mushriqeen (pagans, polytheists, kuffar) where ever you find them….” [At-Tawba 9:5]
2.    Context of verse is during battlefield
Critics of Islam actually quote this verse out of context. In order to understand the context, we need to read from verse 1 of this surah. It says that there was a peace treaty between the Muslims and the Mushriqs (pagans) of Makkah. This treaty was violated by the Mushriqs of Makkah. A period of four months was given to the Mushriqs of Makkah to make amends. Otherwise war would be declared against them. Verse 5 of Surah Taubah says:
“But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is oft-forgiving, Most merciful.” [At-Tawbah 9:5]
This verse is quoted during a battle.
3.    Example of war between America and Vietnam
We know that America was once at war with Vietnam. Suppose the President of America or the General of the American Army told the American soldiers during the war: “Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them”. Today if I say that the American President said, “Wherever you find Vietnamese, kill them” without giving the context, I will make him sound like a butcher. But if I quote him in context, that he said it during a war, it will sound very logical, as he was trying to boost the morale of the American soldiers during the war. Same way nowadays USA & coalition forces in Afghanistan have got an order that wherever you find “Taliban” kill him. Taliban means student, is that at the end of war, this will apply?
4.     Verse 9:5 quoted to boost morale of Muslims during battle
Similarly in Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 5 the Qur’an says, “Kill the Mushriqs where ever you find them”, during a battle to boost the morale of the Muslim soldiers. What the Qur’an is telling Muslim soldiers is, don’t be afraid during battle; wherever you find the enemies kill them.
5.    Shourie jumps from verse 5 to verse 7
Arun Shourie is one of the staunchest critics of Islam in India. He quotes the same verse, Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 5 in his book ‘The World of Fatwahs’, on page 572. After quoting verse 5 he jumps to verse 7 of Surah Taubah. Any sensible person will realise that he has skipped verse 6.
6.    Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 6 gives the answer
Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 6 gives the answer to the allegation that Islam promotes violence, brutality and bloodshed. It says:
“If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge.” [At-Tawbah 9:6]
The Qur’an not only says that a Mushriq seeking asylum during the battle should be granted refuge, but also that he should be escorted to a secure place. In the present international scenario, even a kind, peace-loving army General, during a battle, may let the enemy soldiers go free, if they want peace. But which army General will ever tell his soldiers, that if the enemy soldiers want peace during a battle, don’t just let them go free, but also escort them to a place of security?
This is exactly what Allah (swt) says in the Glorious Qur’an to promote peace in the world.
I see Muslim believers full of hatred, and hostility like killing, revenge, cursing others in the name of Allah. Do you think that Islam will destroy itself, since Jesus said, Evil will destroy itself?
You blame Muslims, but in the USA alone 60,000 babies are killed through abortions every year, Christians dropped two atomic bombs killing thousands of innocent people, Christians were involved in two world wars that killed over 50 million people. Hitler was a Christian who killed six millions Jews. And see the Christian justice that they implanted the Jew state in Muslim area in Palestine instead in Germany. Christians killed millions of Native Americans. Christians committed GENOCIDE against the innocent people of Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan and so on.
Take only example of a Christian state, USA. USA is involved in almost all turmoil of the world. Since 1945 the United States has intervened in more than 20 countries throughout the world. Post World War II, the United States has also assisted in over 20 different coups throughout the world, and the CIA was responsible for half a dozen assassinations of political heads of state.
Islam is under siege politically and under attack militarily. No Muslim nation has come to invade Europe or the US, yet rule Islamic world has been the foreign policy of the US, the UK, France and Russia for the last 80 years. And this is what has bought us to where we are now.
USA is the one who supported Saddam to invade Iran, which resulted killing a million people and destruction of both countries. Again USA was the one who encouraged Saddam to invade Kuwait. This, it done to finally invade Iraq to control Oil Resources. As it could not openly control the state, so it planned to make second invasion on false excuses. So all this was under a plan.
In Iraq, after second invasion more than 1,000,000 (approximately) and 5,000 (approximately) Americans and allied troops are killed for what? Had there been still cruel Saddam, would there had been so much killing, as has done by innocent President Bush and Premier Blair (both Christians) with lame excuses.  Saddam was hanged for killing 182 Iraqis, then what about Bush, by whose action thousands and thousands of innocent has been killed (two Iraq wars and Afghan war), with no justification except the control of Oil, and bases in Afghanistan. There was no so called Al-Qaida in Iraq but Bush has rooted it there, thus creating it by his illegal action. The world is more in danger than before this invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Being a Christian American ruler, having huge power of destruction, destroyed Iraq and now want to leave that where democracy is dancing naked. They have conducted agreement with Iraqi government,( which is dependant on itself ) the rights of controlling its oil resources with only 25% to it and 75% to USA.
In Afghanistan, Christian nations are killing Afghanis on the pretext of Twin Tower fall, which itself is disputed in USA and world. Innocent Muslims are being killed whereas they were so much sensitive of their own innocent people of World Trade center. Is this justification, that against 2863 Twin Tower casualties, they have killed about hundred thousand in Afghanistan.
Tell us who have more killed innocent people of the world, Christians or Muslims. Obviously Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) would have objected to such acts, but religion of Christianity has nothing to do with such atrocities that were committed by followers of Christianity. Bush is worldwide (including USA) is being treated as number one terrorist of world. World peace is in danger of a Christian terrorist not by any Muslim. This is not we say, but it is the survey which is conducted by their Christians friends.
Now the world is under the terror of Bush than any other one. It is not we say, but see the protests all over the world and public opinion. He is treated number one terrorist of the world. It is not Muslim saying but people of western world. He terrorizing all the Muslim world, can you still say that Muslims are terrorist.
Iran is under the danger of Terrorist Attack by USA, why? USA and Israel has right to have Atom Bomb, but Iran is not given even the right of even having processing right for peaceful use. What a Peaceful Jews and Christians of world, no shame at all? Israel has occupied Palestine since 58 years and have killed thousand of innocent Muslims. USA Christian ruler eyes  are blind to see that but as a retaliation if any Jew is killed than that is a terrorist attack. East Temore people being Christians, won independence within two years from Muslim state, but Palestinians problems is not solved in 58 years because here occupier is Jews, supported by Christians.
What more you want to know about the terrorism. Terrorism is intentionally being spread in Islamic world to destabilize and control their natural resources at the end when they will be weak, as you see is being done in Iraq. Instead of decreasing, terrorism is on the increase, and it is all due to actions of Christian stats. But still I will say, judge the religion not by the people who don’t know the religion. Therefore, try to learn about Islam objectively and not see it through the prism of popular media.  
The word “Islam” means peace and submission to the divine nature created by the One All Mighty God. Some books you may want to read on Islam are: “Islam and the Destiny of Man” by Charles Le Gai Eaton and “Life of Muhammad” by Martin Lings. If you meet good practicing Muslims you will find that they care about their neighbors regardless of their religion, they don’t take drugs, alcohol, and don’t have pre-marital sex, they don’t cheat, don’t deal with usury and interest, etc.
Also, try to see why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the West, why Christian priests, Jewish Rabbis and learned people, from all backgrounds are reverting to Islam. Also, try to learn about Christianity, how the Bible was recorded, and why authentic Gospels (like the Gospel of Barnabas) which were written before the Canonical Gospels, were banned. At the end, I have to mention what God says about Islam which you like it or not:
“Abraham was not a Jew nor Christian; but an upright Muslim….” (Aale-Imraan 3:67)
“….This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion….” (Al-Maa’idah 5:3)
“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah (God) never will It be accepted of Him….” (Aale-Imraan 3:85)
Allah is a loving God true? Why do Moslems, in order to serve a loving God, murder innocent women and children? Will the wrath of Allah not find the guilty and punish them? Why do the Islamic nations expect other nations to allow them to worship freely, when they themselves forbid other religions from existing in their countries?
Just a clarification before answering your questions, Allah is not ‘a’ loving God. He is God. Therefore, it would have been more correct to say: Allah is loving or God is loving. Allah is the Arabic name of God, and therefore, Jewish and Christians who live in Arab countries worship Allah, the same way Jews, Christians, and Muslims in France worship ‘DIEU’, and those living in the States worship God. Still, we try to refer to God as Allah since it is His Proper name rather than differentiating Him with the Capital letter of god and God. Allah after all is closer to Elohim and to Alleluia (Hallelujah).
Now back to the questions: Muslims who understand their religion correctly don’t kill innocent people, regardless if they are women, children, or adult men. What you hear in the news which is taking place for example in Algeria has been documented in many credible sources to be the work of mercenaries who have used the name of Islam. In other countries, the same thing is happening. While the people executing such acts may be Muslims, their hidden leadership has been supported by covert operations to discredit the rise of Islamic movements. This is the only way Islam can be portrayed to be bad, because ethically, economically, politically, and socially, Islam has already proven to be a viable and an alternative solution to the current systems.
As to your second question, it shouldn’t be connected to the first one because if the wrath of God should fall on guilty people (not the innocent ones mentioned in the first question), then it is the Muslim’s duty to do his/her best to stop the guilty from doing harm on earth, because from an Islamic point of view, human beings are on earth to worship God and establish His Kingdom. That’s the way Jesus (peace be upon him) understood it, and that’s why he turned violent against the money lenders of the Temple who were abusing the people and dealing with usury. Fighting injustice is a duty on each Muslim.
As to your last question, you should really separate Islam (as a religion) and ‘Muslim’ nations on one side, and also, research the way non-Muslims live in Islamic countries. While in some places non-Muslims are prosecuted, Muslim activists get prosecuted in Muslim countries much heavily. In addition, it is known that Christians and Jews have always found a shelter in Islamic countries and until now enjoy great powers in Islamic nations. The Jews escaped the Inquisition and left to live in Islamic countries peacefully. This took place all the way until the second world war, when they escaped European prosecution. The Christians also have trusted the Muslims in their livelihood and Holy sites. Up until today, Christian sites in Jerusalem are entrusted to Muslims in honor of the pact that dates back to 1400 years ago, when the Christians allowed Muslims to protect them under the condition of not letting the Jews control Jerusalem.
Is ‘suicide bombing’ acceptable as part of Jihad?
Answer :
This is a very general question and certainly it needs further details such as the necessity of this type of bombing, its consequences, its out coming, the target etc.. All these aspects would help in recommending it or rejecting it.
Having said, I would like to say that Jihad is considered as a noble obligation upon Muslims when they are oppressed or suppressed and Jihad is a defensive in its nature. Meaning, Muslims would have to defend themselves against oppression by using all means and weapons leading to take back their rights or to liberate their lands. 

Certainly, the call for Jihad is a duty upon the leadership and it is only the right of leaders to call for it. In other words, the individuals, organizations etc.. should NOT call for it without the permission of Imam thus, Imam is in better position to know the level of preparation and the types of weapons which are needed to defend Muslims against the oppression.

In other words, the individuals or organizations are not allowed to call for Jihad without the permission of Imam. Meaning that calling for Jihad is an obligation upon Imam only not upon individuals or organization. The verses in the Qur’an that talk about Jihad always refer to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on his capacity as Imam not as an individual. This has been clearly stated and justified by scholars such as Imam Qarafi, Ibn Taymiyah, Ibn Qayim, Sheikh Shaltut and Sheikh Al-Qaradawi and others.
Through out Islamic history, the call for Jihad has always been a prerogative of Imam not individuals or organizations. The Prophet was leading and calling for Jihad on his capacity as a leader and Imam. In the event that Imam doesn’t call for it, then the individuals and organization should counsel and advise Imam to do so on the basis onnasihah or advice as stated by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Those individuals are advised to use all peaceful means and ways to convince Imam about the necessity of calling for Jihad, if they fail in doing so, they shouldn’t call for it by their own on the ground that Imam is not good Muslim, but they should believe that they have done the best and they wouldn’t be subject to any sin on the Day of Judgment. 

Based on this, I shall say that the call for Jihad has always been systematic, collective and organized under the supervision of Imam. The incident of Hudaibyah is a clear case and evidence for that. Having said this, it should be clearly understood that the types of weapons should also be approved and recommended by Imam. This is due to the fact that Imam is in a better position to determine the types of weapons. That’s should not be left in the hands of the individuals, otherwise, all types of weapons would be used without knowing the level of achieving the goals of Jihad.

As for amaliyat istishhadiyyah or the so called ‘suicide bombing’, I do believe that it is classified as a means and its has the ruling of means in Islamic laws. In other words, using it or avoiding it depends on the out coming, consequences, target and the necessity. Meaning, the lawfulness of using it must be based on further investigation of the said related issues. For example, it should not be used to kill or attack innocent people such as women and children and non-combatants. An the same time, it should not be used if it does not lead to the achievement of the goals of Jihad. Furthermore, it should not be used when its out comings or consequences are found to be less meaningful and important.
Having said this, I shall call upon Muslims to investigate and review all means and ways that they are using in Jihad. They should not fix themselves with one means or method but they have to look for more means and ways and they should also review old means in light of the new development and advancement of technology. 

All in all, I am of the opinion that the determination of the status of suicide bombing must depend on what we said earlier. I don’t apply to non-detailed answer. I do always believe that this issue needs a collective and comprehensive answer.

There was once a man who was an enemy to Islam. He had three famous questions that no person could answer. No Islamic scholar in Baghdad could answer his three questions…thus he made fun of Islam in public. He constantly ridiculed Islam and the Muslims. One day a small boy, whose age was 10, came along and heard the man yelling and screaming at Muslims in the street. He was challenging people openly to answer the three questions.
The boy stood quietly and watched. He then decided that he would challenge the man. He walked up and told the man, “I will accept your challenge”.
The man laughed at the boy and ridiculed the Muslims even more by saying, “A ten year old boy challenges me. Is this all you people have to offer!”
But the boy patiently reiterated his stance. He would challenge the man, and with Allah’s help and guidance, he would put this to an end. The man finally accepted.
The entire city gathered around a small “hill” where open addresses were usually made. The man climbed to the top, and in a loud voice asked his first question.
“What is your God doing right now?”
The small boy thought for a little while and then told the man to climb down the hill and to allow him to go up in order to address the question.
The man says “What? You want me to come down?”
The boy says, “Yes. I need to reply, right?”
The man made his way down and the small boy, age 10, with his little feet made his way up.
This small child’s reply was “Oh Allah Almighty! You be my witness in front of all these people. You have just willed that a Kafir be brought down to a low level, and that a Muslim be brought to a high level!”
The crowd cheered and screamed “Takbir”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!”
The man was humiliated, but he boldly asked his Second question… “What existed before your God?”
The small child thought and thought.
Then he asked the man to count backwards. “Count from 10 backwards.”
The man counted…”10, 9 ,8 , 7 , 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,0″
The boy asked, “What comes before 0 ?”
The man: “I don`t know…nothing.”
The boy: “Exactly. Nothing was before Allah, for He is eternal and absolute.”
The crowd cheered again….”Takbir!”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!!”
The man, now completely frustrated, asked his final question. “In which direction is your Allah facing?”
The boy thought and thought.
He then asked for a candle. A candle was brought to him. The blessed child handed it to the man and asked him to light it.
The man did so and remarked, “What is this supposed to prove?”
The young boy asked, “In which direction is light from the candle going?”
The man responded, “It is going in all directions.”
The boy: “You have answered your own question. Allah`s light (noor) goes in all directions. He is everywhere. There is no where that He cannot be found.
“The crowd cheered again….”Takbir!”….”Allah-hu-akbar!!!”
The man was so impressed and so moved by the boy`s knowledge and spirituality, that he embraced Islam and became a student of the young boy.
So ended the debate.

Man’s bliss in both the worlds lies in Obeying Allah and in Obeying his Messengers (Peace be upon them). The well known philosophers like Aristotle and Plato were able to contribute in political thought and wrote books on ethics but yet the world remained devoid of any moral fabric through them and no impact was made by them in changing the moral fabric of their students. How can there ever be comparison between diamond and stone. How can rainfall be equivalent to drought. Indeed Messengers are the holders of banners of guidance. Follow their way for it will make you attain bliss.
The greek civilization was submersed into illicit immoral acts and their cloak was a cloak of lust, greed and blood-shed.The status of women was only as on object of base desires in these greek civilizations who were heirs of Aristotle. They tore the curtains of balance and moderation, this they did because they were devoid of any heavenly guidance and they looked upon guidance in the murky waters rather than pure and sweet spring water.From the time of first man on earth who is Adam Peace be upon him , Allah almighty did not forsake his creation. How can he , he who provides for all the creation. He who does not let the birds return home without any food, he who provides for all his creation without any bias, how can he keep his best creation which is man himself devoid of any guidance from him.
Man was given vicegerency on Earth, he is a proof of Allah’s might, he is representative of Allah on earth. Allah is the light of heavens and earth. He exists without any direction and he is without any beginning , he is since there was no time, he is timeless, and is not bound by space and he does nto have a body r a shape. He is irresistible. How can you O man who fails ot describe the essence of electricity define the sublimity of Allah almighty. He makes as he wills and he has power over all things. Our intellect will fail to realize his grandeur expect of what he has mentioned of his attributes in his Book Al Quran.
So O mankind Allah blessed you with sagacity to differentiate between right and wrong and intellect to discern the subtleties of this universe. So you recognize the signs of Allah and you serve him and then your fellow being and the creation. You have to recognize your aim. You are sent here in the world of trial and this is a place where you can attain grand fortune of paradise if and only if you were to live as per what Al-Haqq tells you. Allah choose among you O mankind his Prophets and Messengers and when he saw you at the brink of destruction, he saved you with his hand of mercy. He saved you with his might.You yearn so much to attain great fortunes in this world and exert to your utmost limit to ward of all harm from yourself and your near and dear ones in this world. Yet you are blind to the life after death of tis temporal world. Do you think it befitting for the wisdom of Allah to let go the distressed and oppressed people without any rewards and justice in a life to come.Life after death, Judgment day, hell and heaven, existence of Angels. These are the facts which only Messengers of Allah can tell you and if you use your own limited intelligence to discern these facts without any guidance from the infallible source then you will fall headlong in the valley of despair and fire. The Messengers came with many signs, Moses showed many miracles from Allah to pharoh and also Muhammad Peace be upon him and al Messengers showed many miracles to the mushriks of Makkah. Those who believed did only good to their own souls and those who disbelieved only harmed their own souls. So much so that Abu lahab became father of flaming fire and pharaoh with his tawbah at the time of his death when the curtains of the next world were unveiled to him, his belief at that time did not profit him. For what is there a reward when all the proof is established for you.
Allah has rewarded those who believe in the unseen with firmness. Look at the lofty teachings and life of the last and Final Prophet Muhammad saws, they are more beautiful than the valleys of heaven, they are more sweet than the sweet spring water, they quench the thirst like no other water can quench, they give satiation and tranquility to the heart. For heart recognizes its real cure and medicine. It will not give testimony to falsehood for that pricks the heart.
So in having success in both the worlds you have to follow the Messenger of Allah. In Obeying the Prophet Muhammad saws you are Obeying Allah and in disobeying him who are disobeying all the previous Prophets and Allah. How can a person reach the destination of bliss, if he dos not embark on the ship amidst the turbulent waves. This world is an ocean and your ship to Bliss and heaven is Islam. Islam is the natural religion of mankind and it is the essence of the teachings of all the Previous Prophets. To Obey Allah and his Messenger you have to read and ponder over the words of Allah and his Messenger. For this you have to study the Quran which is the final revelation of Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad saws and you have to read and study the Sunnah of the Prophet saws. Everything has its containers and the containers of the uloom of Islam are heirs of Prophets. There is a Sahih hadith that ulema are the inheritors of the Prophets. So will you seek knowledge from those who know or those who do not know. Will you seek knowledge from the inheritors of the Prophets are from those who are not inheritors of the knowledge. So study under the Ulema, the scholars of Islam the meaning of Quran and Sunnah. And also yourself ponder over it and apply and imbibe the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. You will undergo an alchemy which is more finer than the alchemy of metals into gold.
Obey the Messengers who come from infallible source and you will not be in the wrong even in the minute matters. Obey th teachings of him who made you and who will judge you will give you your allotted destination. Obey the real owner of the universe. Do not obey those who are ever ready to fall headlong into the blazing fire. Only those who oppose Allah and his Messengers will be the companions of the fire. You O people be the companions of the Paradise.
O Allah shower your peace and blessings upon your Best creation Prophet Muhammad saws, his family and all his companions.

In the name of Allah most gracious and most merciful

Peace and blessing of Allah almighty more than the number of stars in the sky the particles of sand in the desert, the drops of rain in the rainiest season be upon our Beloved Prophet Muhammad saws, his family and all his companions.

Man has tried endlessly to come up with new theories to run the society and his life. Barring a few each new movement or a revolution came with ideas either borrowed from the former or a set of new ideas and code of living

A society comprises of people and it is the people who shape the society by their contributions and their way of living and thinking. This too again is dependent upon the current trend or a norm of living prevalent in the society. A society does not stay unhampered with the passage of time. Let us say the Indian sub-continent has people belonging to different communities and they have co-existed together for centuries peacefully. It is not correct to say that they have not been influenced by each other’s way of living.

The measure of correctness of a particular society is not uniform with people of different religions and culture. There are some people for whom religion only comprises of a personal set of beliefs and has nothing to do in shaping the society and there are also those who say religion plays a core role in shaping the society.

All the religions believe in the existence of a Supreme Power who has created this universe. Yes some have brought forth innovations in their religion by stating that there are many gods and not One whereas the truth is that our God is only One. When any society which has an affiliation with belief in God then it follows that morality is held important by them.  But as I have mentioned that people have different interpretation when it comes to implementing the morality which religion teaches in all set of affairs in their daily lives.

Let me tell you briefly about the role which religion played in the western world. There was a time a few centuries ago when the church had domination the social affairs of their society rather of the whole region which falls under its rule. The approach of Christian priests was very narrow ,where they disregarded any scientific or social development and this they regarded as apostasy and even crucified or burned alive those who brought some new theories or ideologies or scientific discoveries.

This was the time when the western world was in a dark age. It is a pity that our books which were given to us to read made us believe that the world was in dark age but what a blatant lie this is! There was a dark age and simultaneously a golden age/era   in the Muslim world There was no dark age for the Muslim civilization for the Muslim world . All the intellectual developments were warmly encouraged and welcomed in the Muslim world.

This was the time when great intellectuals like Biruni, Ali ibn Sina the author of Canon of Medicine, Fakhruddin razi, Rhazes, Nasiruddin tusi, Al-Farghani, Al-Farabi,  Ibn al-Haytham, Al-Kindi, Ibn Bajjah , Omar Khayyám,  Al-Ghazzali, Khwarizmi,  Al-Marwazi , ibn rushd, Geber(Jabir ibn Hayyan), Ibn Nafis and many more were watering the soil of ever yearning seekers of wisdom. They were all very well-known and still are widely respected as the  giants of Islamic scholarship. Whether it is religious science, scientific knowledge, mathematical knowledge, Astronomical knowledge, Mechanical knowledge, Medical knowledge, surgical knowledge, social sciences etc they all were the greatest Intellectual giants in  all these fields. Many of them were polymaths. You all should know that the first person who discovered blood circulation and explained the nervuous system was Ibn Nafis.

Jabir ibn hayyan popularly known as Geber was the first to practice the science of Alchemistry and he was the student of the great Grandson of The Holy Prophet of Islam Peace be upon him.

Al-Masudi was the master of geography, Khwarizmi was the one who discovered Algebra. Ali ibn Sina and Rhazes were masters of medicine. Ibn khaldun is known as the Father of sociology and they were all well respect Muslim scholars as well.

It was Rumi who first explained what gravity was, it was muhiyuddin ibn Arabi the mystic and the scholar who discovered the indivisibility of an Atom.  All this knowledge they got by making the Quran the last and final revelation to mankind which was conveyed to Holy Prophet Muhamad saws and he taught it to his companions and to the world.  If one would ever read the writings of the great Grandson of Holy Prophet Muhammad saws whose name was Jafar Sadiq r.a then he would say all that he says was written few years back because of the deep wisdom it contains.

Scientists from india and all the world would come to Jafar Sadiq to debate and learn from him. Jafar Sadiq r.a was a polymath he taught Islamic sciences, Chemistry, Medicine and astronomy and many other sciences. He has also brilliantly debated with the naturalists and atheists and you can read his books to judge yourself the wisdom and truth in his sayings. His scientific achievements you can go through in the following treatise in below mentioned book. This is because the Family of Prophet saws were the Lighthouses of knowledge and they all acquired this wisdom from the Holy Prophet saws himself and he saws acquired it from Allah who is the One true Lord of the universe.

The companions of the Prophet saws were the pioneers in many fields as well and they spread the wisdom they acquired from their teacher and their Master who also is our Master Holy Prophet  Muhammad saws.

The never ending Ocean of Wisdom is the Quran. This book quenches the thirst of the way-farers and all people. This book is the light of guidance and  mercy from Allah. It is a treasure house the like of which is never seen and never to be seen again.

Many scientists were guided to the truth and they became Muslims by reading this greatest Book which is the word of Allah. Maurice the French surgeon is one example and he even wrote a book the Quran, bible and science. In this book he proves the compatibility of Quran with modern science.

My Brothers and sisters in humanity and Islam, the Quran speaks of many scientific wonders. Whether it is the water cycle, whether it is the science of Embryology, Astronomy, Geology, Botany, Moral sciences, Islamic Law, law of inheritance for both men and women, way of worship, the confirmation of all previous revelations sent by Allah and all things the Quran is the treasure house of all these sciences and subjects.

Allah says in the Quran that Prophet Muhammad saws is sent as a mercy to all mankind. Yes my brethren Islam and the way of Prophet saws is the mercy of Allah, a path leading to paradise this is so because this is the completion of the mission of all the Prophets of Allah.  Islam means to submit our will to One true God alone and to worship him alone and that we do not ascribe any partners to him .

This is the natural religion of man. Islam prohibits idol-worship and it prohibits any man-made interpretation of the being of Allah. Allah alone has dedcribed himself and his being in the Quran in the surah Ikhlaas which states that;

Say: He is Allah, the One

Allah, the Independent

He begets not, nor is He begotten

And there is none like Him ( Quran Surah 112)


Islam is the heavenly religion sent from the source which is infallible. This way of life is infallible and is not like the ever-changing theories because the one who created all that exists and the one who made us and our faculty is the one who made Islam as our way of life.

All the Prophets of God be it Adam, David, Solomon, Moses, Noah, Jacob, Jesus and last of the Prophets, Muhammad Peace be upon them all , all of them taught us to worship One and true God and all of them made us live our lives according to the laws revealed by God. 

All of them were on the natural religion of obeying the commands of Allah and worshipping him alone and not ascribing partners to him. All of them preached to us to shun idol worship and to  establish the Kingdom of God on Earth. But the work was not completed, idol-worship sprung up again, the revealed books were tampered with and this is why the previous Prophets Moses, Solomon and Jesus and others had prophesized about the advent of Prophet Muhammad saws.

Abraham had two sons Ishmael the first born and Isaac and Prophet Muhammad saws came from the blessed line of Ishamel, from Abraham the friend of Allah. This is why in Torah Allah says to Moses that O Moses verily we shall raise a Prophet like unto thee from amongst thy Brethren and shall put my words in his mouth.

This Prophecy was for Prophet Muhammad saws.  The Prophet saws was from the brethren of Isaac, the children of Ishmael and he was very much the head of the State like Moses. And there are many other Prophecies and in injil Isa a.s( Jesus) says that  I will go unto Allah and if I do not go away the spirit of truth will not come and I pray for him to come and his name is Ahmed. He shall glorify me and teach you things.

Ahmed was also one of the names of Prophet Muhammad saws.  I pity the Church and their priests who changed this word and added their own interpretation.  They hid much truth and this is why among all the gospels they chose only four. This too is not the revelation sent to Jesus because these were only the Biographical accounts written much later and with time they tampered it like they did before the time of Christ. So, the need to send another Prophet was there and this was also mentioned on the tongues of the previous Prophets.

So as time passed by Fathers gave way to their sons and children took over the generation from their parents the fruit was ripe and time was come and now Allah sent the last of all the Prophets who is the seal of all the Prophets , Muhammad the chosen one Peace be upon him.

The Holy Prophet of Islam glorified the status of jesus which the jews maligned as they said that his Mother Mary committed fornication God forbid! And that he was not the Messiah and the Prophet of God.  Christians did not follow the disciples of Christ but Paul who never was the disciple of Jesus and brought much foreign element and innovation to the true Message of Jesus.

Jews erred when they did not recognize Jesus and Christians erred when thy did not recognize Muhammad saws and Muslims believe in all the Prophets of God not like the former people the jews and Christians maligning some , rejecting some and accepting others. Those jews and Christians whom Allah guided they accepted the truth and message of Islam they believed in all the Prophets of God and they were in multitudes and even today there are many in millions who accept Islam and the world knows that despite all the false propaganda by the people who stand against the message of Islam, today the religion of Islam is the fastest growing religion on earth.

In west , Islam is the fastest growing religion of the World and women are on top of the list of those who are converting to the Message of Islam. This goes to say regardless of the myth and false propaganda spread by the misguided who say Islam oppresses women. The figures of women coming to Islam has dumbstruck them and have left them with nothing to say! They by their own hatred against truth are rushing themselves to hell-fire.

Islam clears of the false statement put on Jesus of being the son of God but Islam says the truth that God has no sons but all are the creation of God and Jesus was the Messiah and the Prophet of God, near (Dear)to Allah like other close and near (dear)Prophets, Moses, Noah and Muhammad saws. But Allah chose Prophet Muhammad saws as the chief of all Prophets.  

Allah took the Prophet Muhammad saws as his Beloved and one who is dearest to him and it comes in a sound tradition that Allah said had it nto been for Muhammad peace be upon him we would not have creation the universe, the sky, the moon, the earth. This is because it was only by sending the Prophet Muhammad saws that mankind knows how to make use of the bounties of Allah, how to use the starts, the earth, our lives and all the resources at our disposal their correct and proper usage which leads to the pleasure of Allah was taught by Prophet Muhammad saws.  And Allah takes whosoever he wishes as his beloved.

Now with the beautiful religion of Islam, the religion of truth many jews accepted Jesus as the messiah and Prophet. Islam preaches the world that Adam was made without father and mother hence he has greater claim to be son of God than Jesus but for God all things are easy he says to a thing Be and it comes into being. He is far above what the blasphemers say! He is not a being like us so to need a son or a daughter , he is the light of heavens and earth and if he wishes to destroy all that exists none is there to question him.

The biblical language usually called the Prophets as sons of God and this was an innovation on their own part until they said jesus is the begotten son!!! May God judge them and guide them! What a big le at which the heavens shake!! They brought the greek mythology and mixed it with the gospels and the true Message of Christ.

Jesus was a man , a human being and not at all the son of God for all are servants and creation of God. Adam was made from dust and the world came into being by Allah’s willing it. We believe in Christ as the Messiah and the Messenger of God and we believe in the Injil the revelation sent to him. Quran alone speaks the infallible truth of the message of Jesus in his own words that  Christ said” O my people worship Allah who is my Lord and your lord and associate no partners with him” They never called people to his worship but to the worship of One true God alone.

This is what Islam has preached to all the people and this indeed is the true Message of all the Prophets.  We Muslims love Prophet Muhammad saws the most but still the companions were prohibited to prostrate to the Prophet saws himself! because all our prayers and worship is only for Allah . We cannot pray to Prophet Muhammad saws because even he was a human being and  the chief of All the Prophets and he is the best creation of Allah.

We love him the most as we all have to but we pray only to Allah and this is what the Holy Prophet Muhammad saws taught us. We do not make a Prophets divine  as the pagans do with any pious person and make him like a  demi-god.  We say about them what Quran and the sound traditions tell us. For us the Prophet saws was the first and best creation of Allah and loving him the most is incumbent to have belief.  Also know that Love also demands obedience.

The western world with its new revolution and clash of ideas between the church which had no solution for the socio-political problems of the World because firstly the message of Christ was tampered with and it was for only one particular time and community as Jesus himself said I am not sent but to the lost sheep of Israel.  Secondly they themselves rebelled against the Message of Allah and Jesus by ignoring his message and taking the message of Paul and most importantly they did not believe in the Final Prophet Muhammad saws who was sent with the solutions to all the problems of our life  both material and spiritual. The Message of Christ was till the coming of the Prophet Muhammad saws and with the coming of Islam all the previously revealed religions were abrogated. Quran is the confirmation of the all the previously revealed scriptures.

With the coming of Prophet Muhammad saws the truth of the message of all the previously sent Prophets was refurbished and new laws were also revealed to the Prophet saws. The revelation of Quran was sent to the Prophet saws in a span of 23 years gradually and the first revelation was sent at the cave of Hira in Makkah. The Prophet saws was born a Prophet but his proclamation of Prophethood began at his blessed age of 40 years.  There were 360 idols in Kaaba once known for its being a house of Worship built by Abraham and his son Ishmael together for the worship of Allah. This house was made to mark the oneness of God and the Holy Prophet Muhammad saws brought it back to its true Message and way of Abraham. This house is the direction which we muslims have to face no matter which part of the earth we are in.

This, Kaaba is only a direction of prayer. It is called house of Allah. If one is not able to ascertain the Qibla he can pray to any direction he believes is the right one. This he can do only after exhausting his effort in finding the right direction of Kaaba at Makkah. Allah says in the Quran that to whosesoever you turn your face is Allah whether east or west for Allah is Lord of the two east and two west and he is the Lord of all things and the creator and cherisher of all creation. His might is supreme and his light is irresistible.

All the topics whether they pertain to  Worship of One God, marital laws, inheritance laws, morality of behavior, war, laws governing a Muslim state, hereafter, death, angels, stories of Prophets, Scientific wonders of Quran, Warning of the day of Judgment, Purpose of life, reflecting upon the creation of this world and the universe, doing good, forbidding vice, spirituality, sincerity, Justice,  Beauty of paradise, horrors of hell, future Prophecies , all the advices of living a righteous and truthful  life, shunning Idol-worship and evil acts, punishment for evil acts, all the socio-political and economic and financial laws are related and preached by the Quran.

The result of the incorrect teachings and the narrow approach of the church and hatred towards scientific developments led to a movement which was opposite to the church and which culminated in its being totally materialistic. This gave birth to atheism and having no affiliation with religion whereas the correct thing to do would have been to be neither materialists nor ignorant like the church at that time. This in turn made people slaves of lust and immorality went on increasing. For them only this world was everything but Islamic society believed in morality and also in scientific development. It has a cure to this  sickness.

In Islam a moderate approach is preached and practiced. I agree that a few years ago maybe a century or a two ago the cultural factors overcame the true religious precepts among Muslims and if today a person sees a Muslim having a beard and a Kurta , yes beard is a very important tradition of Prophet saws but what I am emphasizing is that some people think this is all what it is needed to identify a true learned practicing Muslim. But the truth is that some people do not even have knowledge of Islam and they are only ritualistic so they are not the true ambassadors of Islam. One has to imbibe the spirit of a Muslim as well.

God willing this problem will go away soon. The blame is on family upbringing which is itself not firstly rooted in the correct teachings and interpretation of Islam. This is the case in today’s time in Pakistan and India but Alhamdulillah if people go to Middle East and even the revert Muslims in west and even many intellectuals in India they are the true ambassadors of Islam.  This is said because they sincerely follow Islam. So my brothers and sisters to understand Islam study the lives of the Holy Prophet Muhammad saws, his Family and his companions and his true followers. The spirit of Islam is not to be ritualistic alone but in acts with spirit, like a body with soul.

People who do not affiliate themselves with religion , a religion which caters to all the precepts of the society, when they do that then life for them only means life for this world only and cheating, bribery, murder and all crimes take place if given a chance. So they designed a law by which they can curb these problems and make life a safe haven for its citizens. These people are aiming at the wrong target and are holding onto the branches while ignoring the very root.

These governments do recognize the importance of a law and order in society and it is only the fear of this law and order that people do not indulge in these actis and if given a chance they will tear apart the people and kill, loot and plunder. Now a believer , the one who believes in life after death which is a fact a truth in itself then he regardless of law and order will hate and despise these acts. Infact the very need for such a state with law and order is a proof in itself of the natural disposition of man towards a revealed law. The concept has idneed come from the Prophets of old whereby maintaingin law and order in the society is prescribed for mankind.

What we see now  and what we have seen in the past in the communities of these non-believers , these materialistic societies  and the societies where religion and state is separated is that every now and then errors are made known, fault lines are knownin their system. Their efforsts to make a society a safe haven for people has failed miserably,if for a moment they succeed then still immorality, drinking and all wrong acts are prevalent. They do not have a balanced syatem of living which caters to all their needs. This balanced system and way of life is what Islam teaches us.

 Muslims are supposed to rule their state as per the Shariah (Islamic law), the revealed and infallible law given by Allah who has knowledge of the future and of the past has given us set of norms and policies and laws in the form of social-political and economic system so that life on earth becomes a kingdom of God on earth. Rights of the poor are not snatched away, justice is prevalent, vices are curbed, value for human life is made sacred, love for morality and Goodness prevails, development with a balanced approach where life in itself does not mean to greedily earn wealth and make it the sole aim of our lives, equal concentration of wealth, interest-free economy, free –market economy. This is what Islam offers us among many other important jewels from its treasure house of peace and tranquility and wisdom.

Yes today some muslims  rulers have follow the western way of ruling, they are aping these man-made governments. For this they and their greed for power is alone to be blamed for and not the true concept of Muslim state which was actualized by the Holy Prophet saws  and his true sccuessors in the past and even today you will see many God-fearing men who are ready to sacrifice their lives for the Message of Truth, peace and justice.

Islam does not believe in personal rituals but a wholehearted approach to religion with both body and spirit and not just one. It is not a monastic faith like Buddhism and not a narrow system like the church and not a materialist way of life like what we see in west. Islam is complete and perfect way of life which leads to the pleasure of Allah and which is the way Allah  wants us to live our life so that we attain true felicity, tranquility and success in this life and in the hereafter, so that we achieve love of God and paradise which only the righteous deserve.

Muslims are not to abandon societies and our five daily prayers , among its many spiritual benefits it is also a living example of brotherhood and man’s role in being in touch with his fellow being and maintaining harmony and equality. Hajj pilgrimage is the best example you can have for universal Brotherhood in Islam.

Islam believes in paying the due in regards to rights of Allah and rights of our fellow being. Rights of Allah  are called Huququllah , they are the rights Allah has on us which is to worship him alone, obey his Messenger and follow the religion of Islam  and all the obligatory acts of Islam. Rights of our fellow being which is also called Huququl Ibaad is to love them for the sake of love and love for them as we love for ourselves, not to hurt them unjustly, guide those misguided, never to break anyone’s trust and promise, to recognize each other as we are all from the offspring of Adam and eve, to help the oppressed and the weak and to forbid the vices and make things easy for our brethren and not difficult, to not harm by hands and tongue and to hold each other’s lives sacred. All of these among many others.

Now my brethren you should know that service to humanity is very much emphasized in Islam so much so that Allah says that he will forgive the sins we commit against Allah but he will not forgive the sins we commit against our fellow beings as long as we do not ask for the forgiveness of our fellow being.

Life is held so sacred in Islam that killing one innocent person is like killing the whole humanity whether muslim or non-muslim and saving one life is like saving the life of whole humanity. Even the rights of animals are emphasized in Islam.  I can go on perhaps writing a book on the rights of our fellow beings in Islam, rather volumes Inshallah.

 The world today is seeking a solution to their problems but I pity them their condition is like that of a person who has a spring of sweet water in front of them but the dust of misguidance has hidden this treasure from them, this has clouded the eyes of their hearts for my brethren it is not these eyes which are blind but the hearts which are blind this is what we learn from Islam.

The society can progress and be on the right path where the lives of their fellow being are secure where vices are diminished and this can happen only if we live according to the will of their creator. The one who made us knows best what is good for us and what is harmful for us. If we use our own imagination and man-made laws to solve our problems then we will fail miserably.

Failure will be there because what is fallible and what is not error-free can never be always right and mistakes will be there and who will be the ones to suffer? The answer is humanity at large, righrs of women and the oppressed will be trampled upon and this is what is happening in the cover of liberation of  women!. 

When we follow the laws given by our creator the society will breathe free and peace wil be acquired and never will you taste what peace is if you do not worship and seek help from the one who nis the source of al peace.

Take Hijaab and its importance in Islam. Allah knows that the best way for women is to be dressed with a head covering and not to display her hair and her beauty and her nakedness except what appears ordinary to any except her husband and her family members, those with whom she cannot marry. Allah made man and women such that with the exposure to the beauty and physical appearance of a women , this stimuli will have a deep impact on our heart and this is what leads many to immorality and crime.

When you mix poison with drink you will suffer. Know that Poison also is your own ignorance.

Do you realize why is it that despite all our hair-splitting discussions on how to curb rape, murder and alcoholism people and these non-believing societies fail? It is because they prefer to worship man rather than God. Yes it is because they worship the man-made laws and their own ego and materialism rather that God-given laws and the infallible revelation of Allah. They never studied Islam and how then can they judge Islam by looking at the narrow vision of the church and other religions. You need to study Islam earnestly and the truth will be known to you on your own.

If you are among that lot of lucky people then truth of Islam will dawn upon your heart. You will then drink from this never ending spring water of happiness and peace which is Islam.

Islam has given rights to women more than any other way of life. The right to inherit was given to women in Islam 1400 years ago and the british a century or two  from now recognized the significance of giving the women right to inherit!

 Why does Islam prescribe Hijaab for women and modest dressing , it is because their rights and their modesty and their honor will be maintained and upheld and it is because they will not be molested by the mischief mongers. For men Islam commands to lower their gaze when an evil thought and lust enters their heart on seeing a woman.

This is prescribed for our women because women are special for us we do not want to see a society where women are molested and killed and oppressed.  Women for us are like jewels and not like stones. Today in Delhi metro you see a separate compartment for women and why is that? Is it because they oppress women or is it because women are important for us , they are special for us? This is what Islam has prescribed 1400 years ago.

For rape in Islam there is a strict capital punishment. Now I want to ask you a question why is it that those people who call for liberal treatment of rapists on the grounds of humanity, why are they not called the oppressors of women’s rights !. Truly to honor the rights of human means to hate those who commit crime against the modesty and honor of a women and Islam believes in giving death penalty to the criminal.   To ask to justice and to give justice is how true peace can prevail and to have justice you need laws which are not fallible but which are infallible and this has to be designed by  him who knows human nature and society the most and who is he other than Allah alone.

For each crime and aggression against humanity Islam has a set of prescribed rules. In finance Islam believes in Interest Free economy and in business Islam believes in Free market economy. Interest is despised in Islam and it is an injustice in itself where the poor becomes poorer and rich more richer because this is a system where without any effort and sweat and blood the one who lends the money on interest is hoarding additional money from the lender. Why is it that the farmer’s suicides are on rise and many countries are in huge debt? It is all because of Interest.

The concentration of wealth becomes limited in the hands of few due to this interest based economy. And poverty is on the rise because debt is on rise. Muslims were economically advanced and they never took part in interest and those who do today they are not true ambassadors of Islam but according to Islam indulging in Interest is one of the major sins.

Who prescribed these laws for us , it was Allah who made all things and gave them their properties who created the universe by his will and command and who will gather us on the day of judgment to judge us according to our faith and deeds. He has made cause and effect , he has made the norm of nature and he has power over it , he has power to halt the cause and effect cycle. Successful indeed are those who put their trust in Allah and follow the guidance which is sent down to them. This guidance is the guidance of Prophet Muhammad saws.

I can go on and on stating facts to show that Islam is a complete and perfect system of life which offers humanity and the world the solution for all their problems. Islam has not left any problem unsolved. Allah has nto left mankind without any guidance, he has given the guidance and the pleas of those who come with them have been exhausted. What can they say to defend themselves for not obeying God’s message. Were they blind to the preaching of those who preach the truth of Islam.

 Allah gave us intellect and sagacity to judge between right and wrong and this sagacity was enough to pass a test in this world and the teacher are the Prophets and their revelations are our textbook of guidance and those who study and practice it will pass and the ones who deny the message of Prophet saws they will fail miserably because their purpose of coming in this world was testing them and worshipping him.

What obstructs them from obeying the message of Islam is their blind following of their forefathers and their ego and how harmful is this ego, this arrogance and ego was the reason why satan fell from heaven to hell and his followers will join him in hell and he is ever at hunt to deceive those who fall for his trap. So hold on to the message of Quran . The many Miracles of Prophet saws, his fulfilled prophecies, the miracle of making the unruly arab race into world super-power and super-power in their morals as well, is more than enough evidence to shun your misguidance and follow Islam.

Those who study Quran with an open heart are ultimately led to Islam and know that the voice of truth is ever increasing and how can it stop when it is the light of truth. From the desert of Arabia the call of Prophet Muhammad saws  , the call of Islam is echoing across the entire globe and in heavens.  The message of Islam is to worship One true God alone and to believe in all the Prophets of God and their books, and to submit our will completely to Allah alone and that servitude, true servitude in word and deed is only to Allah and none else. This is what makes a soul free in true sense and Islam makes us turn to the natural religion of Islam and makes us free from bondage to man-made laws and idols. Idols also include the idols of lust and power and our false imagination.

The rights of non-Muslims are honored in an Islamic state and more justice is given to them than in any system of governance present today.

Why do not the government who practice these man-made laws which they have raised to the level of infallibility, why don’t they ever put a stop to pornography, alcoholism? These two big diseases ruin the society. They break-up marriages, ruin health and happiness, spirituality and morality. There remains not much difference between a man and an animal. This is one of the evils of an all out freedom which they think democracy calls them to.

Is it correct to give one freedom to do whatever he or she wants to do or is it incorrect. Why do we have red-lights speed limits and other limitations in the law structure if an all-out freedom is a wise thing? They contradict their own theories. There has to be law and order, there has to be some limits. One cannot go around hurting sentiments of his fellow human being in the name of freedom of sppech and one cannot go around spreading immorality in the name of freedom of action. This is the most insensible thing one can ever do. The morality and intellectual level of these people has stooped down even below to that of animals.

Now I want to share something with my readers. Here below find a link where testimonies of jewish converts to Islam is given. I request all those who read this small treatise of mine to share this post to as many friends they have and to also share the links I have posted in it.


This is all I wish to write for now, my aim is to keep this treatise short and had it not been so we would have written many more pages that would have easily formed into  two big volumes. 


May Allah forgive me my sins and have pity on me on behalf of this small treatise that I have written. And we Allah’s choicest peace and blessings like the number of stars in the sky be upon our Beloved Prophet Muhammad saws and his family and all his companions Amen.

Words of wisdom from Imam Ali r.anhu ( Purely from authentic books of Ahle Sunnah )

Below you will find the sayings which are purely from the books of Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah and its isnad is proven. So there be surety for this. The sayings of Hazrat Ali r.a are many and will itslf compile many books on it and they are scattered in the books of Ahle sunnah  along with his judgements. So i will make you read the pearls of wisdom of Imam Ali r.a , i will not be able to gather many sayings but i will try my best to share as much i can collect for now.
1. AbuT-Qasim az-Zujaji said in his Amali: Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn Rustum at-Tabari narrated to us: Abu Hatim as-Sijistani narrated to us: Yacqub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami narrated to me: Sacid ibn Salim al-Bahili narrated to me:  My father narrated to us from my grandfather from Abu’l-Aswad ad-Du’ali –  or he said: from my  grandfather Abu’1-Aswad from his father that he said: I entered upon the Amir al-Mu’minin cAli ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, and saw him with his eyes lowered, deep in thought. I said, ‘W hat are you thinking about Amir al-Mu’minin? He said, ‘I have heard in this city of yours mistakes (in the use of Arabic), and I want to make a book on the principles of Arabic.’ I said, ‘If you do this, you will give life to us, and this language will remain among
Later, after three days I came to him, and he gave me a page in which was, ‘In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate. The word is noun, verb and particle. The noun is that which tells you about the named thing. The verb is that which tells you about the movement of the named thing. The particle is that which tells you of a meaning which is neither a noun nor a verb.’ He said, ‘Follow this up and add to it what occurs to you. Know, Abu’l-Aswad ad-Du’ali, that things are threefold: a substantive, a pronoun, and a thing which is neither a substantive nor a pronoun. The men of knowledge onlyhave differing degrees of excellence in recognition of what is neither substantive nor pronoun.’ Abu’l-Aswad said: I compiled some things on it and I showed them to him. The particles of nasb (which put the noun governed by them in the accusative) were in it. O f them I mentioned  inna, anna, laita, lacalla, and ka’anna but I did not mention lakinna. He said to me, ‘Why did you leave it out?’ I said, ‘I did not reckon it to be one of them.’ He said, ‘It is one of them  so add it in among them.’
2. ibn Asakir narrated that Rabiah ibn Najid said: ‘Ali said, ‘Be among people as the bee is among birds, for there is no bird that doesn’t regard it (the bee) as insignificant. If the birds knew what blessing there is in its belly, they would not do that to it. Mix with people with your tongues and your persons, and be separate from them in your actions and your hearts; because’ a man has what he earns, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be with whomever he loves.’  He narrated that Ali said: Be more concerned for the acceptance of your action than you are for the action; for, an action with fearful  obedience will not be little. How could an action which is accepted  be little?
3.He narrated that Yahya ibn Judah said: Ali ibn Abi Talib said, ‘Carriers of the Qur’an (memorisers of it)! act according to it! for the knowledgeable man (‘:alim) is only one who knows, then acts according to what he knows, and whose knowledge is in accord with his action. There will be people whose knowledge will not pass below their collarbones (i.e. to their hearts), whose inner selves are at variance with their appearances, and whose actions are at variance with their knowledge. They will sit in circles competing for superiority with each other, to such an extent that a man will become angry at the man who sits beside him because he sits beside another and leaves him. Those, their actions in these assemblies of theirs will not rise up to Allah.
4.He narrated that Ali said: Be more concerned for the acceptance of your action than you are for the action; for, an action with fearful  obedience will not be little. How could an action which is accepted  be little?
5.He narrated that Ali said:  At-tawfiq (being directed by Allah to the right course) is the best leader, good character is the best associate, the intellect is the best companion, courtesy the best inheritance, and there is no loneliness worse than conceit.
6.He narrated that al-Harith said: A man came to Ali and said, ‘Tell me about the decree.’ He said, ‘It is a dark path; do not travel it.’ He said, ‘Tell me about the decree!’ He said, ‘A deep ocean; do not enter it.’ He said, ‘Tell me about the decree!’ He said, ‘The secret of Allah which is concealed from you; do not investigate it!’ He said, ‘Tell me about the decree!’ He said, ‘Questioner! Did Allah create you for what He wills or for what you will?’ He said, ‘O f course, for what He wills.’ He said, ‘Then He will make use of you for what He wills.’
7.He narrated that Ali said: Calamities have endings. Whoever suffers misfortune must go to the end of them. It is only right for
an intelligent man, when some misfortune occurs to him, that he should submit to it until its time ends, because in trying to repulse it before the natural ending of its time there is increase in its unpleasantness.
8.He narrated that it was said to Ali, ‘What is generosity?’ He said, ‘That which comes from the man as an initiative. As for that which comes in response to a request, it is only shame and feigning generosity.’
9.He narrated from Ali that a man came to him, spoke well of him, praised him excessively, and something about him had already reached him (Ali) before that. He said, ‘I am not as you say. And I am better than what you believe within your self.’
10. He narrated that Ali said: The recompense of disobedience is weakness in worship, constriction in livelihood and shortcoming in pleasure.’ Someone asked, ‘What is a shortcoming in pleasure?’
11.He said, ‘When one obtains the fulfilment of a permitted appetite something intervenes which prevents one having the desire fulfilled.’
12.He narrated from Ali ibn Rabicah that a man said to Ali, and the man used to hate him, ‘May Allah establish you!’ Ali said, ‘ upon your heart.’
13.He narrated that ash-Shabi said: Abu Bakr used to speak poetry (i.e. compose it), Umar used to speak poetry, Uthman used to speak poetry, but Ali was more poetical than the three.
14.He narrated that Nabit al-Ashjai said: Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said,
‘When hearts enclose despair
And the wide breast is constricted with their worry,
And calamities take up their abode and are at rest,
And misfortunes take up residence in their places,
And no way is seen to remove the harm,
And the cunning one does not gain freedom by his trickery,
A helper comes to you, right upon your despair,
Whom the Near, the Answerer brings,
And all misfortunes, when they reach their limit,
Near deliverance is joined with them.’
15. He narrated that ash-Shabi said: Ali ibn Abi Talib said to a man whom he disliked keeping the company of another man,
‘Do not accompany an ignorant brother;
Beware of him!
 How many an ignorant man has destroyed
                  A forbearing man when he took him as his brother.
A man is measured by another man
                If he walks along with him.
One thing has measures and
              Similarities for another thing.
The measure of a sandal is another sandal,
                   When it is placed beside it.
For the heart there is an indication
                Of the heart when it meets it.’
16.He narrated that al-Mubarrad said: Written on the sword of Ali
ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, was:
‘People have an eagerness for the world and (want) to manage it,
                  And its purity is mixed for you with impurity.
They are not provided it with intelligence after it had been  divided up,
                         But rather they are provided it in measured portions.
How many a courteous and intelligent man it does not help!
                     A fool attains his world through (his) shortcoming.
If it had been from strength or conquest,
                 Then hawks would have flown off with the sparrows’ provisions.’
17.He narrated that Hamzah ibn Habib az-Zayyat said: Ali ibn Abi  Talib used to say: ‘Do not disclose your secret except to yourself,
18.He narrated that Uqbah ibn Abi’s-Sahba’ said: When Ibn Muljam struck Ali, al-Hasan went in to see him, weeping. Ali said to him,
‘My son, memorise from me four and four.’ He said, ‘What are they, father?’ He said, ‘Intelligence is the wealthiest of riches, the greatest poverty is folly, the loneliest solitude is conceit, and the noblest of noble qualities is good character.’ He said, 
‘And the other four?’ He said, ‘Beware of keeping the company of a fool, for he wants to benefit you and he harms you; beware of befriending a liar, for he will make the remote seem near to you and the near seem remote; beware of befriending a mean person for he will  sit inactively however much you are in need of him; and beware of befriending an immoral person, for he will sell you for a trifling sum.’
19.Ibn Asakir narrated from Ali that a Jew came to him and said to him, ‘When did our Lord come into existence?’ Ali’s face flushed with anger and he said, ‘He was not, and then He was? He is, without existence. He is, without cause. He is, without anything before Him nor any end. All ends fall short of Him, for He is the end of every end.’ Then the Jew accepted Islam.
20.Ad-Darraj narrated in his well known Juz with an unknown isnad from Maysarah that the Qadi Shurayh said: When Ali was setting out to Siffin, he found that he was missing a coat of armour of his. When the war was over and he returned to Kufa, he came across the armour in the hands of a Jew. He said to the Jew, ‘The armour is mine; I have not sold it or given it away.’ The Jew said,
‘It is my armour and it is in my hand.’ He said, ‘Let us go to the qadi! Ali went first, sat beside Shurayh, and said, ‘If it was not because my opponent is a Jew, I would have sat beside him in the gathering, but I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, “Humiliate them, since Allah has humiliated them.’” Shurayh said, ‘Speak, Amir al-Mu’minin.’ He said, ‘Yes. This armour, which this Jew has, is my armour; I did not sell it and I did not  give it away.’ Shurayh said, ‘W hat do you say, Jew?’ He said, ‘It is my armour and it is in my possession.’ Shurayh said, ‘Do you have any evidence, Amir al-Mu’mininT He said, ‘Yes. Qanbar and al-Hasan will witness that the armour is mine.’ Shurayh said, A son’s witness is not acceptable on behalf of his father.’ Ali said, A man from the Garden, and his testimony is not acceptable? I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, “Al- Hasan and al-Hussein are the two chiefs of the youth of the people  of the Garden.’” 
The Jew said, ‘The Amir al-Mu’minin brought me before his qadi, and his qadi gave judgement against him. I witness that this is the truth, and I witness that there is no god but Allah and I witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and that the armour is your armour.
21.Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, said, ‘Precaution is bad opinion.’
22.He(‘Ali r.a) said, ‘The close one (i.e. the near relative) is the one whom affection renders close even if his kinship makes him distant. The distant one is the one whom enmity makes far even though his kinship makes him a near relative. There is nothing nearer to the body than the hand, and yet the hand, if it is corrupt, is cut off and if it is cut off, then it is cauterised.’ Abu Nucaym narrated it.
23.Ali said, ‘Take five things from me: Let none of you fear anything but his wrong action; let him hope for nothing but his Lord; let someone who does not know, not be shy of learning; and let someone who does not know, not be shy of saying, “Allah knows best”; and patience has the same relation to iman as does the head to the body: when patience goes then Iman goes, for when the head goes, then the body goes.’ Said ibn Mansur narrated it in his Sunan.
24.Ali  said: The real faqih is the one who does not make people despair of the mercy of Allah; who does not grant them licence to disobey Allah; who does not make them feel secure from the punishment of Allah; who does not abandon the Qur’an longing for something other than it; because there is no good in worship in which there is no knowledge, there is no knowledge unless there is understanding along with it, and there is no recitation if there is no reflection in it. Ibn ad-Daris narrated it in the Fada’il al-Qur’an.
25.Ali  said: The coolest thing for my liver, when I am asked about what I don’t know, is to say, Allah knows best.’ Ibn Asakir narrated it.
26.Ali said: Whoever wants to give people what is due from him, let him love for them what he loves for himself. Ibn Asakir narrated it.
Ali said: Seven things are from the shaytan: strong anger, strong sneezing, strong yawning, vomiting, nosebleeds, secret discourse, and falling asleep during dhikr (remembrance of Allah).
Ali said: Eat the pomegranate with its pulp for it is the stomachic (literally: the tan of the stomach). Sacid ibn Mansur narrated it.
Ali said: A time will come to people in which the believer will be
more humiliated than a female slave.
Said ibn Mansur narrated it.
Abu’l-Aswad ad-Du’ali said, eulogising cAli,
‘Eye, woe to you! Come to our aid;
Do you not weep for the Amir al-Mu’minin?
Umm Kulthum (the daughter of Ali and Fatimah, and the wife
of Umar) weeps over him
With her tears, and she has seen death.
Say to the Khawarij wherever they are
–  and may the eyes of the envious not find rest –
“Is it in the month of fasting that you have distressed us,
Through the best of men altogether?
You have killed the best of those who mounted steeds
And tamed them, and of those who mounted ships,
O f those who wore sandals and cut them to measure,
And who recited the Mathani (the Fatihah) and the Clear (Book).
All the qualities of good were in him,
And the love of the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds.”
Quraysh knew, wherever they were,
That you (Ali) were the best of them in standing and in deen.
When I looked towards the face of Abu Hussein
I saw the full moon over the onlookers.
Before his killing we were in good;
We would see the mawla of the Messenger of Allah among us.
He was establishing the truth without doubting concerningit,
And he was just to enemies and close relatives.
He would not conceal any knowledge that he had,
And he did not have the character of the haughty ones.It is as if when people lost Ali,
They were ostriches bewildered in a land for years.
Do not rejoice at our affliction Muawiyah ibn Sakhr,
For the rest of the khulafa are from us.

27. Hadhrat Ali  r.anhu once stood up to deliver a lecture saying, “All praise  belongs to Allaah Who has created creation, Who breaks the dawn, Who will resurrect the dead and raise all within the graves. I  testify that there is none worthy of worship but  Allaah  and  I  testify  that  Muhammad SAWS is  the servant  and  Rasulallah (saws) I  emphatically advise you to adopt Taqwa. Remember  that the best  means of  attaining proximity to Allaah  is by  Imaan and Jihaad in  the path of Allaah. It  is also most effectively attained by  the Kalimah of sincerity that is most natural, by  establishing salaah, which is part of the true creed, by paying zakaah, which  one of  the obligatory duties and by  fasting during  the month  of Ramadhaan, which  happens  to be  a  shield  against Allaah’s  punishment. Furthermore,  i t   is attained by  making Hajj  at the Kabah, which eliminates poverty  and  obliterates sins. Fostering good family ties is also a means (of attaining proximity  to Allaah) since it  causes one’s wealth to increase, one’s lifespan  to be extended and love within  the family to grow. Sadaqah should also be given in secret because it erases sin and extinguishes the wrath of your Rabb. Good  deeds  need  also be carried  out because  it  thwarts  a  bad  death  and safeguards one against being floored by abject circumstances
Engage  abundantly  in Allaah’s Dhikr  because  it is the best  thing  to  engage  the tongue with. You  must  look  forward  to  the  promises  Allaah  has  made  to  the people of Taqwa because Allaah’s promises are the most truthful of all promises.
Follow the guidance of your Nabi  because it is the best of  all guidance and adopt his way of life because it is the best of practices to follow. Learn the Book of Allaah because it is the best of all speeches and develop a deep understanding of Allaah’s Deen because it is the spring of the heart. 
Treat (physical and spiritual) illnesses with its light because the Qur’aan is definitely a cure for all that hearts contain. Recite the Qur’aan beautifully because  it is the most beautiful of all narratives  and when it is recited  to you, listen  attentively  and remain silent s o  that mercy may be showered on you. When you have been inspired to study the Qur’aan, practise what you  have  learnt so that you may receive  guidance. Remember  that the practising Aaiim who does not practise  his knowledge,  he would  be just like the tyrannical  ignoramus who cannot  be straightened because  of  his  ignorance. In  fact, I  feel that the regret  is more lasting  and the case stronger against  the Aalim who forsakes  his  knowledge as opposed  to the ignoramus who is confused in his ignorance. Both these persons are astray and destroyed.
Never entertain  doubts because it will  plunge you  into misgivings  and it is such misgivings that will  lead you  to kufr. Do  not  also practice  on concessions because you will  then soon become too compromising and  as soon as you compromise on the truth, you will  lose plenty. Bear in mind  that it is  an act of intelligence that you  rely  on Allaah but this reliance  should not  be such that  it leads you to deception. The person who most wishes well for himself will be  the most  obedient to his Rabb whereas the one who is most deceived will be most disobedient to his Rabb. The person who obeys Allaah will remain safe and happy while the one who disobeys Allaah will remain in fear and have regrets .
Furthermore, you  must  also pray to Allaah for conviction  and always sho-vv Him your desire for well-being. In fact, conviction is the best of &l.&k.ngs that remain entrenched within the heart. The best  of  all matters are those that  are the most resolute while the worst of them are those that have been fabricated. Remember that every fabricated  matter is a Bid’ah  and  every person who fabricates is engaging  in Bid’ah.  Such a  person will  be destroying (the Deen) because whenever he fabricates a Bid’ah,  he is forsaking a Sunnah.
Those truly at a loss are those whose Deen  is  at a loss and who have put  their own souls at the losing end (by disobeying Allaah). Verily ostentation is a part of Shirk, while sincerity is  a part  of  good  deeds and  Imaan Gatherings  of  futility make one forget the Qur’aan, are attended by  Shaytaan  and invite people to misguidance. Remaining  in  the  company of  (non-Mahram) women causes the heart to stray and captivates the eyes because women  are indeed  the traps of Shaytaan. 
Be  true to Allaah  because Allaah  is with  those who  are true  and  abstain  from lying because lying is the antithesis of Imaan. Always bear in mind that the truth stands at the peakofsalvation  and honour while  lying stands  at  the  peak  of destruction  and  devastation. Listen well! Always speak the truth and you will be known for it, practise it  and you will  be amongst its worthy  bearers. Always return  trusts  to those who have entrusted goods with  you. Join ties with  those family members  who have severed them  and  be  gracious  to those who deprive you. Fulfil  the pledges you undertake with  people, ensure that you exercise justice  when passing  judgement  and  never  boast about your  ancestors  before each other. Never call each other names, never make fun of each other and never make each other angry. Assist  the poor, the oppressed, those in  debt, those striving in the path of Allaah, the beggars  and slaves and always show mercy  to widows  and orphans. Make  Salaam common amongst you  and reply to the Salaam of those who greet you, using the same words or words that  are better.
(He then recited the verse:)
Assist  each other  in  good works  (virtue and piety) and Taqwa  and  do not  assist each other  in  sin  and  transgression  (oppression and injustice). Fear  (the punrshment ofAllah! Most surely Allah is severe in punishment. {Surah Maa’idah, verse 2)
Entertain  guests, be good to your neighbour, visit  the ill, accompany funeral  processions and, 0 servants of Allaah, behave like brothers. Furthermore, I  wish  to add that this world  has turned its back and bid farewell, whereas the Aakhirah  has arrived  and  is straining its eyes to look. Today  (this world)  is  the  time  for  the  race while  tomorrow  it will  be  seen who  has  gone ahead. The winner will have Jannah while  at the other end is Jahannam. Behold! You  are passing through days of respite which are followed by your death that is approaching very fast. 
Therefore, whoever  does good decd., sincerely for Allaah during  the  days  of  respite  before his  death, has really  done well  and will  have what he hopes for. On  the other hand, whoever is neglectful  of  d oing   good will be  at a loss for good deeds, will have shattered  hopes and will  actually come to harm because of his hopes. You must do good deeds with hope of reward as well as in fear (for punishment). If you  are overcome with  hope, then  be  grateful  to Allaah  and  couple  it with fear. Then,  if  you  are overcome with  fear, remember Allaah  and  couple  it with  hope because  Allaah  has  announced that  men shall have Jannah in  return  for  their good  deeds  and will  have  an increase  (in bounties) for their gratitude.
I  have never seen a place like Jannah yet its seeker is asleep. I  have also not seen a place like Jahannam, yet the one who ought to be running away from it is also asleep. I  have  also not seen anyone earn as much  as the one who earns for the day when treasures will be accumulated, when secrets will be exposed and when all major sins are collected together. Take note of the fact that whoever does not benefit  from the truth will still be harmed  by falsehood  and the one whomguidance does not put on the straight path will  certainly be led  away (from the straight path) by misguidance. 
The one whom conviction does not benefit will be harmed  by doubt and the one who does not benefit from what is before him will be  one-eyed  when  viewing  something far  off  and  even  more helpless when  it comes to things that are not present. You  have been  instructed to travel  (to the Aakhirah)  and  have  been shown where  to find  the  provisions  for  the journey. What I  fear most for you people is that you follow the dictates of your passions and that you entertain long hopes of the future.
As  for entertaining long hopes, it  . makes one forget the Aakhirah, whereas following one’s passions distances one from the truth. Listen well! While  this world  has  already  embarked on  its  return  journey,  the Aakhirah has just commenced its arrival. Both these places have their sons, so as far as possible, you should endeavour to be  amongst the sons of the Aakhirah and not amongst the sons of this world. While today you  have the opportunity for  actions without reckoning,  tomorrow you will  face  reckoning without the opportunity for actions. ( Taken from Al Bidaya Wal Nihaya vol 8
28. `Ali ibn Abi Talib (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “The one who seeks after knowledge,
Paradise will seek after him; and the one who seeks after disobedience, the
Hellfire will seek after him.”
29.‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Surely from the blessings of this
world, sufficient is Islam as a blessing; surely from the multitude of
preoccupations, sufficient is obedience as a preoccupation; and surely from the
causes for reflection, sufficient is death as a cause.”
30. `Ali ibn Abi Talib (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “He who does not have the sunnah
of Allah, the sunnah of His Messenger, and the sunnah of His chosen ones, has
nothing. It was asked, “What is the sunnah of Allah?” He replied, “Safeguarding
secrets.” It was asked, “What is the sunnah of the Messenger?” He replied, “Being
gentle with people.” It was asked, “What is the sunnah of His chosen ones?” He
replied, “Bearing people’s harm.”
31. Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) also said, “People before us used to advice each other
of three things – the one who works for his Hereafter, Allah will take care of the
matters of his din and dunya for him; and the one who beautifies his inner self,
Allah will beautify his appearance; and the one who rectifies that which is
between him and Allah, Allah will rectify that which is between him and
32. `Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) also said, ‘Be in Allah’s estimation the best of people,
and in the estimation of your nafs the worst of people, and in people’s estimation
just a man from amongst the people.’
33.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Give to whomsoever you wish and you will
become his master; ask from whomever you wish and you will become his
prisoner; and do not seek help from whomsoever you wish and you will be his
34. ‘Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Three things enhance memorisation and
eradicate phlegm – siwak, fasting, and reading the Qur’an.”
35. Ibn `Abbas (radyAllahu`anhu) was once asked, “Which is the best of days?
Which is the best of months? Which is the best of actions?” He replied, “The best
of days is Friday, the best of months is Ramadan, and the best of actions is
performing the five daily prayers in their prescribed times.” After three days `Ali
(radyAllahu`anhu) came to hear of the questions and the answers of Ibn `Abbas.
`Ali said, “If the scholars, the ascetics, and the jurists of the East and the West
were asked, they would not have replied as well as Ibn `Abbas , except that I say,
“The best of actions is that which Allah accepts from you, the best of months is
the month in which you make sincere repentance to Allah, and the best of days is
the day in which you leave the world to [meet] Allah the Exalted while you are a
36. The Messenger of Allah (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “I was made to love
three things from your world – perfume, women, and prayer.” The companions
were sitting with him and Abu Bakr (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “You have spoken
the truth, O Messenger of Allah! I was made to love three things from this world
 looking at the face of the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and
giving my daughter in marriage to the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa
‘Umar (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “You have spoken truthfully, O Abu Bakr!
I was made to love three things from this world – commanding good, forbidding
evil, and worn garments.” `Uthman (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “You have spoken
truthfully, O `Umar! And I was made to love three things from this world 
feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and reading the Qur’an.” `Ali
(radyAllahu`anhu) said, “You have spoken truthfully, O `Uthman! I was made to
love three things from this world – serving the guest, fasting in the summer, and
fighting with the sword.” As they were discoursing, Jibreel came and said,
“Allah the Exalted sent me when He heard your discussion and has ordered you
to ask me what I would have loved if I were to be from the people of this world.
The Messenger of Allah (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) asked, “If you were to be
from the people of this world what would you have loved?” Jibreel replied,
“Guiding those led astray, keeping the company of contented strangers, and
helping families afflicted with hardship.” He continued, “The Lord of Honour
loves three things from His servants – giving one’s utmost, crying when in regret,
and being patient in times of poverty.
37.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “The one who longs for Paradise will rush
towards good deeds; the one who dreads Hell will put an end to his vices; the
one who has a firm conviction in [the imminent arrival of] death will lose all his
passions; and the one who really knows the dunya will find disasters easy to
38.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Din and dunya will continue to exist as long as
four things exist – as long as the rich are not miserly in that which they have been
blessed; as long as the scholars practice what they have learnt; as long as the
ignorant are not arrogant about that which they do not know; and as long as the
poor do not sell the Hereafter in return for the dunya.”
39.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Four things, a little of which is still a lot – pain,
poverty, fire and enmity.”
40. “Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “The most difficult of actions are four –
forgiving when in a state of anger, contentment in times of hardships, chastity in
seclusion, and speaking the truth in front of someone whom one fears or from
whom one hopes for largesse.”
41.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Were it not for five things all of mankind would
have been righteous – contentment with ignorance, covetousness over this world
(dunya), miserliness over what is surplus, insincerity in actions, and conceit over
one’s opinions.”
42. `Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “The one who gathers six traits will not have left
anything that brings him closer to Paradise or anything that makes him escape
Hell – he came to know Allah the Exalted and thus obeyed him; he came to know
Satan and thus disobeyed him; he came to know the Hereafter and thus sought it;
he came to know the dunya and thus rejected it; he came to know the Truth and
thus followed it; and he came to know falsehood and thus steered clear of it.”
43. `Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Blessings are six – Islam, the Qur`an,
Muhammad – the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), well-being,
Allah’s protection, and non-dependence on people.”
44. `Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) was asked, “What is heavier than the sky? What is
wider than the earth? What is richer than the sea? What is harder than rock?
What is hotter than fire? What is colder than ice? What is more bitter then poison?
He replied, “Accusing the innocent is heavier than the sky; the Truth is wider
than the earth; a content heart is richer than the sea; the heart of a hypocrite is
harder than a rock; a tyrant ruler is hotter than fire; being in need of help from a
scoundrel is colder than ice; and patience is more bitter than poison (and in
another narration, backbiting is more bitter than poison).”
45. `Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “There is no good in prayer without concentration
and calmness; there is no good in fasting without refraining from idle talk; there
is no good in reading without any contemplation; there is no good in knowledge
without piety; there is no good in wealth without generosity; there is no good in
brotherhood without caring for another; there is no good in a blessing that is
short-lived; and there is no good in supplication without sincerity.”
46.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Shedding tears is of three types – the first is from
the fear of Allah’s punishment, the second is from the fear of Allah’s anger, and
the third is from the fear of being cut off from Allah. The first one is a
compensation for sins, the second is purification from faults, and the third is
elevation to the ranks of sainthood accompanied by the pleasure of the Beloved.
The fruit of the compensation of sins is salvation from punishment; the fruit of
the purification of faults is eternal bliss and high ranks; and the fruit of the
elevation to the ranks of sainthood accompanied by the pleasure of the Beloved
is glad tidings from Allah the Exalted of His pleasure, of seeing Him, of the
visiting of angels, and of an increase in virtue.”
47.`Ali (radyAllahu`anhu) said, “Knowledge is the best inheritance, good manners
are the best craft, piety is the best provision, worship is the best baggage,
righteous action is the best guide, good character is the best companion,
gentleness is the best advisor, contentment is the best wealth, [divine] assistance
is the best ally, and death is the best teacher.”

48. All the knowledge and secrets of the Qur’an are contained in surah Fatiha and all the secrets and knowledge of Surah Fatiha are contained in the Bismillah and all the secrets and knowledge of Bismillah arRahman ar Rahim are contained in the letter “Ba” of the Bismillah and all the secrets and knowledge of the letter “Ba” are contained in the dot [nuqta] under the letter Ba and I am the nuqta [dot] of the letter “Ba”! ( Currently i am not able o locate the source of this saying, though i have read it at some places nevertheless ‘Ali r.a was a great scholar of the Quran al Kerim)
49.  Resignation to the will of Allah  is the cure of the disease of the heart.”

50. “The disease of the heart is worse than the disease of the body.”

51.”To fight against one’s desires is the greatest of all fights.”

52.”Riches without faith are the greatest poverty.”

53. “Every breath of man brings him nearer to death.”

54. ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib said, “The person who says something indecent and the person who makes it known are equal as far as the wrong action is concerned.”  
55.Hukaym ibn Sa’d heard ‘Ali say, “Do not be hasty, spreading and divulging secrets. Ahead of you lies a severe, distressing affliction and events which would take a long time explain  namely oppressive conflicts.”  
56.’Iyad ibn Khalifa heard ‘Ali say at Siffin, “The intellect is located in the heart. Mercy is located in the liver, Compassion is located in the spleen. The self (nafs) is located in the lungs.”
57. . ‘Ali said, “I prefer to have a group of my brothers join around a sa’ or two of food to going out to the market and setting a slave free.”  
58.Ibn al-Kawwa’ asked ‘Ali about the Milky Way. He said, “It is the water-trough (or loop of the bag) from which the heaven opens up flowing water.”  
59.’Ali said, “When someone hears a sneeze and says, ‘Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, in 
every situation,’ he will never get a toothache or earache.”  
60.Al-Fadil ibn Muslim reported that his father said, “When ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, 
went out through the Bab al-Qasr, he saw some backgammon players. He took them and locked them up from morning to night. Some of them he only locked up for half the day. Those he locked up until night were those who used silver. Those he locked up for half the day were those who playedit. He also commanded that they should not be greeted.”
61. Hazrat Ali r.a said : “This world is coming to an end and will soon bid farewell, and the hereafter is coming and will soon begin. Today the horses are being kept in preparation, and tomorrow will be the race. Indeed you are living in the days of hope that will be interrupted by death. Whoever falls short during the days of  hope before his death comes will be doomed. Strive hard for the sake of Allah (&)  in the hope of reward as you strive hard for His sake for fear of  His punishment. I have never seen anything like paradise whose seekers could sleep, and I have never seen anything like hell, those who fear which can sleep. The one who  does  not benefit from  the truth  will be harmed  by falsehood, and whoever does not benefit from guidance will be led astray by misguidance.
You have been instructed to travel, and you have been told about your provision.  0 people, this world  is  a temporary  convenience; the righteous  and the  immoral alike  may enjoy its luxuries. But the hereafter is true, and it will be ruled by  a powerful King. Satan threatens you with poverty and bids you to do evil, but Allah (&) promises you forgiveness and bounty from Him, and Allah  (&) cares for  all and knows  all  things.  0 people,  do righteous deeds during your lifetime, and your offspring will be taken care of. Allah has promised His paradise to  those who  obey Him, and He has warned of His hell for those who disobey Him. Its fire will never be extinguished, its prisoners will never be ransomed and  the  one who suffers  therein will  never be helped. Its  heat  is intense, its bottom is deep and its water is a boiling fetid liquid ”
62. Amir al-Mu’mineen ‘Ali  paid attention to making use of  different occasions to exhort and remind the people; he did not limit it to Friday sermons only. When he walked with the funeral procession and heard the voices of the bereaved family raised in weeping as the body was placed in the niche in the grave, he would say: “Why  are you weeping? By Allah, if they could see what your deceased one is seeing, they would be distracted from their deceased one by  what they see. Death will come back again and again, until none of them is left. So fear Allah, 0 slaves of Allah, and strive hard in righteous deeds.  Hasten  to  do good deeds  before death,  the  destroyer  of pleasures, comes. The pleasures of  this world will not last, and you cannot feel secure against the calamities of  this  world, for it is fleeting and deceitful and cannot be relied on. Learn the lessons, 0 fleeting and deceitful and cannot be relied on. Learn the lessons, O slaves of Allah, and heed the exhortation, for soon you will die and will be buried. Soon the Trumpet will be blown, and the occupants of the graves will be raised and driven to the arena of gathering for the Reckoning. Everything is under the control of the Almighty. Every person will have an angel to drive him and an angel to bear witness to his deeds.( And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord [Allah],  when He will come to judge among men, and the Book will he placed [open], and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward, and it will be judged between them with truth, and they will not be wronged.)  (Qur’an 39:  69)
63. Ali r.a said “Prayer  at  night  brings radiance  to  the face during  the day.”391 Allah (Swt) says: And those who spend the night in worship of  then Lord, prostrate and standing), (Qur’an 25: 64). He also said: “The light of the believer results from the optional prayer  during the night.
64. Hazrat Ali r.a said;  
 “The  soundness  of  religious commitment  comes from restraint, and corruption thereof  results from greed.”
 “Glad  tidings  to  the  one  who  acts  upon  what  he knows.”
 “Opportunity passes as  quickly as  a cloud.”
“Hardheartedness comes from a full stomach.”
“Prominence stems from  virtue  and  good manners,  not from origin or lineage.”
 “A  good  attitude is more splendid than good looks.”
“A  good  attitude brings  ample provision.”
 “Kindness is one of  the best  of  treasures.”
65. A  group of  people gathered in the presence of  Amir  al- Mu’mineen  ‘Ali  ibn  Abi  Talib  and discussed kindness. Amir  al-Mu’mineen  took this opportunity to  encourage them and urge them to he kind, and he said: “Kindness is one of the best of treasures and one of the best of  crops. You should  not  be discouraged  from  doing acts  of kindness by the ingratitude of those who reject it and deny it. Kindness cannot be complete except with three things: thinking little of it, concealing it and hastening it. If  you think little of it, you will make it great; if yon conceal it, you will perfect it; and if you  hasten  it,  you will give people the  chance to  enjoy  and  appreciate it.”  
66. ‘Ali k.w said ; ( The below sayings are also said by ‘Ali r.a)
 “There  is no nobility  with bad manners.”
 “There  is no rest for the  envious.”
“The envier is angry with someone who has done nothing
“Woe to the wrongdoers from the most just of
“Whoever  unsheathes the sword of transgression will be killed by it.”
“The wrongdoer who started the trouble will look at his hand tomorrow  and  learn  a  lesson  from  it.”  This warning is based on the verse, And [remember] the Day when the Dhalim [wrongdoer, oppressor, polytheist] will bite at his  hands.)  (Qur’an 25:  27)
 “Concealing  hardship is  a sign of  chivalry.”
 “Be kind to the one who wrongs you, and you will be safe
from his  wrongdoing.”
 “Kindness  puts  an end  to  backbiting
Whoever has a sweet tongue will have a lot of  friends
. “Whoever is lacking in sincerity will have few friends.”
“Your  tongue will speak what yon accustom it to say.”
. “Whoever asks about that which does not concern him will miss  out on that  which  does concern him.”
“Keep  company with righteous people,  and you will  be
safe from the  evildoers.”
. “Having a  good companion is a  treasure.”
“Accompanying a foolish man is a loss in this world and a regret in  the hereafter.”
“If  you think about what people dislike, it means you will
 “Do not examine the one who said it; rather think of what
he said.”
 “The best of people is someone who benefits people.”
“A  person is hidden under his  tongue.”
“The  tongue  is  an  indication  of  either ignorance  or wisdom
.”Your  brother is the  one who supports you  in times  of
“The value of every person is connected to what he is good at.”
  “Beware of the anger of the noble man if he gets hungry, and beware of the anger of the ignoble man when he is full.”
. “The  ego is inclined to follow whims and desires and to take the easy option. It is inclined to idle pursuits, prone to evil,  and  attracted  to  immorality.  It  prefers  to  avoid challenges and is reluctant to strive hard. If  you force it, you will lead it in the right way, but if you neglect it, you will  cause its doom
Below are some more short sayings of Hazrat Ali k.w;
Fear God and you will have no cause to fear any one
Resignation to the Will of God is the cure of the disease of the heart
The word of God is the medicine of the heart
Lead such a life, that, when you die, the people may mourn you, and while you are alive they long for your company
The days of life pass away like clouds, so do good while you are alive
Of all the follies the greatest is to love the world
Opportunity is swift of flight but slow to return
Pride, cowardice, and miserliness are bad for me but good for women
The most happy is he to whom God has given a good wife
He who knows himself knows God
Do not soil your conscience for anything but heaven
The disease of the heart is worse than the disease of the body
To fight against one’s desires is the greatest of all fights
The strongest amongst you is he who subdues his self
Wealth and greed are the roots of all evils
Riches without faith are the greatest poverty
A man’s worth depends upon the nobility of his aspirations
Knowledge enlivens the soul
The learned lives, although he dies
The sum total of excellence is knowledge
To respect the learned is to respect God
Generosity hides shortcomings
The wealth of a miser is as useless as a pebble
Desire is one’s most inveterate enemy
Those who walk on the surface of the earth shall one day be interred in it
Every breath of man brings him nearer to death
People are asleep as long as they are alive; they are awakened when they die
Patience is the fruit of faith
Virtue never dies
A man’s glory from his virtue is greater than the glory of his pedigree
The one, who reflects on God’s gifts, succeeds
Ignorance harms a man more than a cancer
One of the signs of stupid man is the frequent change of opinion
Never speak when it is not the time for speech
Beware of backbiting it sows the seed of bitterness, and separates you from God and man
The best truth is the keeping of promises
Better be dumb than lie
Do not flatter, it is no sign of faith
A hypocrite’s tongue is clean, but there is sickness in his heart.
Better to be alone than with bad company
Whoever sows good, reaps his reward
